Kyle Van Noy’s next stop is Minnesota, and it could be the cleanest path yet to keeping his NFL career rolling.
After spending three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, the 12-year veteran agreed to a deal with the Vikings on Tuesday night following a visit. Van Noy had made it clear all offseason that he wanted to play a 13th season, and while he had even talked about wanting to return to Charm City, that reunion is not happening.
Instead, he lands in a place that looks tailor-made for a veteran pass rusher trying to squeeze out more production. Minnesota’s defense was one of the league’s best in 2025, finishing third in yards allowed and tied for third in sacks with 49. For Van Noy, that means a chance to work in a system that should keep pressure opportunities coming.
The fit gets even better when you look at the sideline. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores has built a reputation on aggressive blitz packages, and that style has been a constant throughout his defenses.
Van Noy already knows what that can look like. He played for Flores with the Miami Dolphins in 2020 and had a strong season there, and now the two are back together.
Minnesota also needed the help. Tyler Batty went down with an ACL tear in the preseason finale, and behind starters Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner, the Vikings have just 1 career sack. Bo Richter and Chaz Chambliss are both unproven, so adding a veteran with Van Noy’s résumé made obvious sense.
That résumé still carries weight, even after a rough 2025 in Baltimore. Van Noy was a smart pickup by the Ravens in 2023 and rewarded them over three seasons with 23.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss and his first career Pro Bowl selection in 2024.
But last season was a different story. Baltimore’s defense finished with only 30 sacks, and Van Noy accounted for just two of them.
That drop-off fueled questions about whether the 35-year-old had reached the end. Van Noy spent the offseason pushing back on that idea, and now he gets another shot to prove there’s still something left.
For a player with 57 career sacks, this is a real opportunity to get back to business.
