Dolphins Eyeing Ravens Star to Fill Major Roster Gap

Could Isaiah Likely be the key piece the Dolphins need to strengthen their offensive lineup this season?

In the swirling vortex of NFL free agency predictions, the Miami Dolphins are often linked to quarterback Malik Willis. But let’s shift gears and consider a fresh perspective. ESPN's Aaron Schatz recently suggested a different route for the Dolphins: signing tight end Isaiah Likely.

Likely, who previously played for the Baltimore Ravens, could be the missing piece in Miami’s offensive puzzle. With the Dolphins' top three tight ends from last season-Greg Dulcich, Darren Waller, and Julian Hill-hitting free agency, the need for an upgrade is clear. Waller, despite notching six touchdowns last season, struggled with injuries and played only nine games.

In Baltimore, Likely was overshadowed by Mark Andrews, who secured an extension midway through last season, signaling the Ravens’ commitment to Andrews over Likely. This opens the door for Likely to step up as a starting tight end elsewhere.

Schatz notes that while Likely had a quieter season last year, ranking 19th among tight ends in ESPN's receiver scores, he previously ranked sixth in 2023 and third in 2024, consistently putting up 400 yards in each of those seasons. Miami’s offense, especially after releasing Tyreek Hill and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, could be the perfect stage for Likely to thrive.

The quarterback situation in Miami for 2026 remains a mystery. However, bolstering the offense with a dynamic and dependable tight end like Likely would be a strategic move, providing whoever takes the helm with a valuable target.
