Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys might still have a shot at landing five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby. The Baltimore Ravens recently backed out of their trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby, leaving the door open for the Cowboys.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero noted that the Cowboys were initially interested in Crosby, and with the Ravens stepping aside, a deal with the Raiders remains possible.
However, The Athletic's Dianna Russini soon reported that the Cowboys have decided not to pursue further discussions about Crosby.
The Ravens had initially offered two first-round picks for Crosby this offseason. Unfortunately, Crosby's failed physicals with the team led to the deal being voided.
Crosby had been dealing with a torn meniscus, which sidelined him for the last two games of the previous season. Surgery in January aimed to fix the issue, and he's been on the road to recovery since.
Drafted by the Raiders in 2019, Crosby signed a three-year, $100.5 million extension with them last March. Despite his efforts, including 73 total tackles, 10 sacks, and 28 tackles for loss in 15 games, the Raiders ended up last in the AFC West with a 3-14 record.
In his seven seasons, Crosby's playoff experience is limited to a single appearance in 2021, where the Raiders fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in a wild-card game.
Skip Bayless expressed his surprise on social media about the Ravens backing out of the trade, questioning how it might influence the Cowboys' interest in Crosby.
In the meantime, the Cowboys made a move by trading with the Packers to acquire edge rusher Rashan Gary, giving up a 2027 fourth-round pick for the Pro Bowler.
