Cooper DeJean Defends A J Brown Amid Bold Push From Derrick Henry

As questions swirl about A.J. Browns future in Philadelphia, voices from both inside and outside the locker room are staking their claims.

A.J. Brown’s Future in Philly: What’s Next for the Star Wideout?

The Eagles' early playoff exit has stirred up more than just disappointment in Philadelphia - it’s also reignited questions about A.J. Brown’s future with the team.

After a wild-card loss to the 49ers, rumors started swirling about a potential landing spot in Baltimore for the three-time Pro Bowler. And while the noise is growing louder, not everyone in the Eagles’ locker room is ready to see him go.

Cornerback Cooper DeJean made his stance clear during an appearance on the Up & Adams show: “We gotta keep A.J. Brown in Philly,” he said.

“I bet they would [love Brown in Baltimore]. I think A.J.'s pretty.

I think he's alright in Philly right now.”

Translation? DeJean knows just how valuable Brown is - not just to the offense, but to the identity of this Eagles team.

But over in Baltimore, there’s already a welcoming committee forming. Derrick Henry, the Ravens’ newly acquired powerhouse running back, didn’t shy away from the idea of Brown joining him in purple and black.

“They did what they're supposed to do,” Henry said, referring to the Eagles’ recent success. “They won the Super Bowl.

You know, good things don't always last forever. Baltimore is open to them.

We'll welcome them with open arms.”

That’s not exactly tampering, but it’s definitely an open invitation.

Brown, who arrived in Philly in 2022 via trade from Tennessee, signed a three-year extension in 2024. But since inking that deal, his production has taken a hit.

He played in just 13 games in the 2024 regular season, finishing with 67 catches for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns. This past season, he saw a reduced role, logging 78 receptions for 1,003 yards - his second-lowest yardage total in the past four seasons.

Now, those numbers are still solid by most standards, but for a player of Brown’s caliber - and with the expectations that come with his contract - it’s fair to say the Eagles were hoping for more.

Naturally, that’s led to speculation about whether Philadelphia might consider moving on. But general manager Howie Roseman didn’t leave much room for doubt when he addressed Brown’s future on January 15.

“It’s hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J. Brown’s a great player,” Roseman said.

“That’s what we’re going out and looking for when we go out in free agency and the draft - trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy. So that would be my answer.”

That’s a strong endorsement from the top, but it doesn’t mean the situation is entirely settled. Brown’s reduced role, paired with whispers of dissatisfaction, suggests there may be more going on behind the scenes. Whether it’s about targets, scheme fit, or locker-room dynamics, the Eagles will need to address those internal issues if they want to keep their star wideout happy - and in midnight green.

For now, A.J. Brown remains an Eagle. But with Baltimore lurking and players like Henry openly campaigning, the pressure is on Philly’s front office to make sure their No. 1 receiver still feels like one.
