NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Flowers’ injury is not considered serious and that he would have gone back into the game if this had been a playoff matchup. Because Baltimore was already in control against Indy, the team chose to keep him sidelined once he was ruled out in the second half.
Ravens head coach Jesse Minter backed up that outlook, saying Flowers is day-to-day as the team prepares for the New Orleans Saints. That leaves the door open for him to suit up in Week 2, even if the situation still deserves monitoring.
Despite the uncertainty, DraftKings did not move Baltimore’s number. The Ravens remain 8.5-point favorites at home against New Orleans.
That makes sense given how important Flowers is to the offense. Flowers made the most of his limited run against Indianapolis, catching five passes for 150 yards and a touchdown on six targets while playing just 20 snaps, or 29.4 percent of the game.
Baltimore will issue its first injury report of the week on Wednesday after practice, and that should give a clearer picture of where Flowers stands. A limited session would be a positive sign as the Ravens move toward their matchup with New Orleans.
Flowers had also been managing a leg injury in camp and in the buildup to Sunday’s game against Indy, so he remains a player to watch. Baltimore would like to avoid a longer absence, especially with the team sitting No. 2 in the league at DraftKings in Super Bowl odds.
