A fresh draft class and a major deadline haul have pushed the Orioles to four players inside MLB Pipeline’s Top 100, with two newcomers sitting near the front of the pack.
At the top of Baltimore’s list is outfielder Eric Booth Jr., the seventh overall pick, who checks in at No. 40. Booth has already gotten his first taste of pro ball, going 2-for-6 in his first two games with Single-A Delmarva.
Right behind him is right-hander Anthony Eyanson at No. 49. Eyanson was the biggest-name prospect in the deal that sent three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman to the Boston Red Sox last week, and he’s set for his second start with Double-A Chesapeake on Friday night at Reading.
The Orioles’ fourth Top 100 names are both pitchers who have climbed fast. Left-hander Joseph Dzierwa lands at No. 90 after going 8-2 with a 2.01 ERA between High-A Frederick and Chesapeake. Right-hander Caden Hunter is No. 98, thanks to a 4-3 record and 2.09 ERA across Delmarva, Frederick and Chesapeake.
Booth is now the organization’s top prospect, with Eyanson second after briefly holding the No. 1 spot. Dzierwa is third and Hunter fourth.
First baseman/outfielder Ike Irish comes in fifth, though his season is over after a knee injury. Irish hit .286 with a .916 OPS, 16 home runs and 59 RBIs with the Keys.
The next wave of Orioles talent is spread all over the system. Outfielder Nate George is sixth after missing most of the year with illness following his start at Frederick.
Left-hander Luis De Léon, now at Triple-A Norfolk, is seventh. Shortstop Wehiwa Aloy, recently moved up to Chesapeake, is eighth.
Outfielder Enddy Azocar, another piece from the Rutschman trade, is ninth and currently at Frederick. Right-hander Michael Forret, reacquired in the trade that sent reliever Tyler Wells to Tampa Bay, is at Norfolk.
Frederick left-hander Boston Bateman sits 11th, while Keys right-hander Kyson Witherspoon, who also came over with Eyanson and Azocar, is 12th. Utilityman Aron Estrada at Chesapeake is 13th, followed by left-hander JT Quinn, who was recently promoted to the Baysox, at 14th. Outfielder Ty Head, Baltimore’s second-round draft pick, is 15th and has started his pro career this week with the Shorebirds.
A few other names stand out deeper in the rankings: Trey Gibson is 17th after going 1-3 with a 7.86 ERA in eight games with the Orioles. Outfielders Enrique Bradfield Jr., Baltimore’s 2023 first-round pick, and Jhomnardo Reyes, who came from Minnesota in the Dean Kremer trade, are 18th and 24th, respectively. Harold Rivas, another player acquired in the Rutschman deal, is 26th and is at Delmarva.
Utility player DJ Layton, recently promoted to the Keys, is also 26th, while Esteban Mejia has slipped to 27th after a brutal year with the Shorebirds that has left him 0-7 with a 9.74 ERA. Catcher/first baseman Creed Willems, a fan favorite at Norfolk, is 28th, and Kevin Roberts Jr., the Orioles’ fourth-round pick, rounds out the notable names at 29th.
