The Orioles are bringing Trey Mancini home for one more official moment in orange and black.
On Friday, the club announced that Mancini will sign a one-day contract with Baltimore and retire as an Oriole on Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Orioles host the Milwaukee Brewers at 4:05 p.m. ET. Camden Yards will be the setting for a full pregame tribute, with fans invited to be there for the celebration.
Mancini’s path with Baltimore started when the Orioles drafted him in the eighth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Notre Dame (IN). He went on to spend his first six major league seasons from 2016-21, plus part of 2022, with the Orioles before being traded to the Houston Astros and winning the World Series in 2022.
His career after Baltimore took him through several stops. He spent part of the 2023 season with the Chicago Cubs before finishing that year in the minors with the Cincinnati Reds.
He did not play in 2024, then spent 2025 in the minor leagues with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Earlier this year, Mancini opened the season in the minors with the Los Angeles Angels and was called up on June 8, making his first MLB appearance in 1,043 days.
He played in five games for the Angels before officially announcing his retirement on August 18.
The tribute carries extra weight because of what Mancini went through in 2020, when he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer after routine blood work during his yearly physical at Spring Training. He missed the entire season while going through treatment, then returned after his cancer went into remission later that year. In 2021, he was named American League Comeback Player of the Year.
The Orioles also rallied around him during that battle, producing “F16HT” t-shirts in 2020 to benefit the Colorectal Cancer Alliance Patient and Family Support Services. Those shirts raised more than $80,000.
For Sept. 19, the team is offering a special ticket package tied to Mancini’s story. The package includes a game ticket and a limited-edition hat featuring the “F16HT” logo, with part of the proceeds going to The Trey Mancini Foundation, which supports people dealing with food insecurity, illness, and hardships.
The special packages start at $33, excluding fees, and are available at Orioles.com/Mancini. Regular tickets are also available there.
The familiar F16HT sign in the home dugout tunnel, which has stayed up every season since 2020, will be moved to the Club Level archives at Camden Yards. In its place, a new permanent sign will be unveiled during a pregame ceremony.
Mancini’s day will include more than one nod from the crowd. Former teammates, coaches, staff members, medical professionals, and others who were part of his journey will join him for the pregame festivities, and he will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
As part of Fan Appreciation Weekend, he’ll also take part in a pregame kids-only autograph session at the ADA platform at the top of section 16. The session is for kids 12 and under, with one autograph per participant, no personalization and no photos allowed.
The autograph opportunities are limited and will be handed out on a first come, first served basis. Fans will also be randomly selected to take part in the on-field pregame ceremony.
