BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Auburn's Ethin Bingaman is making waves in the college baseball world, earning the title of Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after a stellar performance that helped secure the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series championship for his team.
This accolade adds to Auburn's impressive tally, marking their fifth SEC Freshman of the Week award over the past two seasons, a testament to the program's knack for developing young talent.
Bingaman, hailing from Redlands, California, was a force to be reckoned with, posting a scorching .625 average (5-for-8) and a .700 on-base percentage across three games in Arlington. His breakout began with a multi-hit opener against Kansas State. He continued to contribute as a defensive replacement against Florida State, adding another hit to his tally, before truly stealing the spotlight in the finale against Louisville.
In that game, Bingaman launched two jaw-dropping home runs in the fourth and seventh innings. The balls rocketed off his bat at 107 and 110 miles per hour, respectively, covering a combined 800 feet.
The second homer was a spectacle, soaring into the second deck at Globe Life Field. This remarkable feat made him the first Auburn freshman to hit multiple home runs in a single game since Brian Fletcher did so against LSU back in 2008.
Bingaman's performance not only highlights his potential but also signals that Auburn's roster is packed with young talent ready to make an impact. Keep an eye on this rising star as the season unfolds.
