The Broncos got a little lift on Wednesday afternoon, and it came with Bo Nix back in the mix.
Denver opened training camp in a newly remodeled Broncos Park, and the first workout also marked Nix’s return as a full participant in 11-on-11 work. The quarterback had been sidelined after getting injured in the 2025 divisional round against Buffalo, and until now he had only been cleared for 7-on-7 drills during June minicamp.
Sean Payton sounded encouraged by where Nix is at physically.
“Man, I’m pleased with the shape he’s in and the timeline relative to everything we’ve discussed injury-wise falling into place,” Denver coach Sean Payton said regarding Nix. “It’s good to have him back out there in the [11-on-11] team periods.”
Nix’s return comes as the Broncos turn the page toward the preseason and try to take another step after winning the AFC West. They came up one game short of the Super Bowl, with Nix unavailable at the worst possible time.
Even with that setback, Nix still put together a big season, piling up more than 4,000 yards of total offense and 30 total touchdowns. But Payton made it clear he thinks the offense can still give its quarterback more help.
“I think there’s certain areas for us offensively that can help with the quarterback - a consistent run game throughout the year,” Payton said. “There’s some things we can do to help him.”
The Broncos begin their preseason schedule on Aug. 14 on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.

Auburns Rebuilt Cornerback Room Brings Hope And One Lingering Concern
Auburns cornerback room looks nothing like it did a year ago, and that is by design. DeMarcus Van Dyke has overseen a full rebuild after the Tigers lost five players from last season, including starters Jay Crawford and Kayin Lee, then brought in five transfers to join a mix of returners and underclassmen who will spend camp fighting for roles. Jordan and Rayshawn Pleasant are viewed as the early favorites to land the starting jobs, giving Auburn a new-look back end with a chance to stabilize quickly.
The upside is obvious enough that both Van Dyke and Alex Golesh have pointed to the groups potential, especially with players such as Gavin Jenkins and Arnoux drawing attention as the room takes shape. Jenkins brings the kind of length and ball skills that can change how a defense looks on the outside, while Arnoux has the raw talent to push the competition further.
