That’s why three Auburn players stand out as the ones most likely to shape what happens on Saturday.
Brown is the first name to circle, and he’s become a familiar one in this space for a reason. This marks the third straight week he’s landed on a watch list for an Auburn game, and the logic hasn’t changed.
He has the kind of ability that can swing a matchup by himself, even if that hasn’t shown up yet in an Auburn uniform. Saturday against Florida looks like the kind of stage where he could finally put it together.
He appeared to shake off some of the rough edges in last week’s game against Southern Miss, and if that progress carries over, Auburn’s outlook changes fast. There are still plenty of questions around his game, but a big showing from Brown would give the Tigers a much better shot.
Jeremiah Cobb is another player Auburn may need to lean on heavily. The game is shaping up as a clash of two strong running backs against two tough rushing defenses, and Cobb will be the one carrying the ball for Auburn in that fight. His start to the season has been uneven, in part because of inconsistency up front, but this matchup may demand more from him.
He’ll likely be asked to keep pace with Florida Heisman favorite Jadan Baugh, which is a tough assignment for any back. Still, Cobb has already shown he can deliver in SEC games. Last year, he ran for more than 100 yards against Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Missouri, and his 153-yard effort against Vanderbilt stood out as the peak of that stretch.
With no other SEC game on Auburn’s schedule carrying the same long-term weight as this one, Cobb is the kind of player who could use this stage to deliver a vintage performance.
Then there’s Singleton, Auburn’s leading receiver so far and the most obvious big-play threat in the passing game. He hasn’t found the end zone yet this season, largely because Brown’s passing has been uneven, but he has still averaged more than 13 yards per catch and piled up 131 receiving yards.
If Florida loads up against the run as expected, Auburn may get chances to attack underneath or behind the defense through Singleton. One clean look in space could turn into a major play in a hurry, and that’s exactly the kind of moment Auburn may need in a game like this.
