Auburn Transfers Find Surprising Success Before Portal Reopens in Eight Days

A year after a major roster shakeup, Auburns departed transfers turned in mixed results across the country-some shining as stars, others struggling to find the field.

As the 2026 transfer portal window looms just eight days away, Auburn is gearing up for what promises to be another active offseason. After a 2025 campaign that saw the Tigers embrace the portal under Hugh Freeze in his final season at the helm, the program is expected to lean even more heavily on transfers this time around.

Last offseason, Auburn brought in 20 transfers while losing 22 scholarship players to the portal. But despite the net loss, the Tigers arguably came out ahead in terms of on-field production. While a few former Tigers found success elsewhere, many didn’t make a significant leap after leaving the Plains.

Let’s take a closer look at how Auburn’s outgoing transfers fared in 2025 - a year that saw some breakouts, some busts, and everything in between.

Keionte Scott, CB - Miami

2025 Stats: 44 tackles, 10 TFLs, 6 PBUs, 3 sacks
Accolades: Second Team All-ACC

Scott made the most of his move to Miami, emerging as a key piece of a Hurricanes defense that powered its way to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. His stat line jumps off the page - 44 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, six pass breakups, and three sacks - and his impact was felt on every level of the defense. The All-ACC honors were well-earned, and among Auburn’s transfers, Scott arguably had the most complete season.

Camden Brown, WR - Georgia Southern

2025 Stats: 63 receptions, 1,049 yards, 14 TDs
Accolades: First Team All-Sun Belt, Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year

Brown didn’t get much traction during his time at Auburn, but he exploded in the Sun Belt. His 14 touchdown catches led the nation, and he became a go-to weapon for Georgia Southern.

It’s a classic case of a player finding the right system and the right opportunity. Brown’s breakout season was one of the biggest surprises among Auburn’s departures.

Walker White, QB - Baylor

2025 Stats: None

White, a former four-star recruit, was one of the more high-profile names to exit the program. Despite the buzz, he didn’t see the field at Baylor this season. After playing just one game in 2024, his development remains a wait-and-see situation.

Hank Brown, QB - Iowa

2025 Stats: 11-for-21, 107 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

Brown had a brief stint as Auburn’s starter in 2024 before being benched. At Iowa, he played sparingly, appearing in three games.

His most notable action came in a loss to Indiana, where he completed five passes for 48 yards and threw an interception. While he saw the field more than some of Auburn’s other former QBs, his role remained limited.

Holden Geriner, QB - Texas State

2025 Stats: 0-for-1, 0 yards

Geriner left Auburn looking for playing time but didn’t find much at Texas State either. With just one pass attempt on the year, he’s already planning to re-enter the portal.

Sam Jackson V, QB/WR - Oklahoma State

2025 Stats: 35-for-66, 351 passing yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs; 10 receptions, 86 receiving yards

Jackson’s versatility was on display in Stillwater, where he lined up at both quarterback and wide receiver. He spent most of the season under center for an Oklahoma State team that struggled mightily, winning just one game. While his numbers were modest, his willingness to fill multiple roles speaks to his adaptability.

Bradyn Joiner, OL - Purdue

2025 Stats: 791 snaps, 26 pressures allowed, 1 sack allowed (per PFF)

Joiner was a steady presence on Purdue’s offensive line, logging nearly 800 snaps. While he allowed 26 pressures, he gave up just one sack - a solid showing for a player adjusting to a new system in the Big Ten.

Caleb Wooden, S - Arkansas

2025 Stats: 59 tackles, 3 TFLs, 3 PBUs

Wooden carved out a productive role in Arkansas’ secondary, finishing with 59 tackles and flashing some playmaking ability. He proved to be a reliable presence on the back end for the Razorbacks.

Antonio Kite, CB - Ole Miss

2025 Stats: 28 tackles, 4 PBUs

Kite contributed in the Rebels’ secondary, making 28 tackles and breaking up four passes. While he didn’t dominate, he was a consistent rotational piece in an SEC defense.

Darron Reed Jr., DL - Mississippi State

2025 Stats: 21 tackles, 2 TFLs, 2 sacks

Reed found a home on Mississippi State’s defensive front, posting a pair of sacks and 21 total tackles. He showed flashes of the potential that made him a promising young lineman at Auburn.

Rico Walker, TE - Purdue

2025 Stats: 9 receptions, 100 yards

Walker saw limited targets but managed to crack the 100-yard mark on the season. He was a depth piece in Purdue’s offense and could be poised for a bigger role in 2026.

Percy Lewis, OL - Ole Miss

2025 Stats: 15 snaps, 0 pressures, 0 sacks allowed

Lewis didn’t see much action, but when he did, he held his ground. Zero pressures and zero sacks allowed in limited snaps is a small but clean performance.

Tyler Scott, CB - Georgia State

2025 Stats: 4 tackles

Scott had a quiet year at Georgia State, making just four tackles. His role was minimal, and he didn’t make a significant impact.

JC Hart, CB - Utah

2025 Stats: 6 tackles

Hart made six tackles in his lone season at Utah. Like Scott, he didn’t see much time on the field.

EJ Harris, OL - Middle Tennessee State

2025 Stats: 318 snaps, 13 pressures allowed, 2 sacks allowed

Harris played a sizable role on Middle Tennessee’s offensive line, logging over 300 snaps. While he allowed 13 pressures and two sacks, he gained valuable experience and could be a key returner next season.

Laquan Robinson, S - Kansas

2025 Stats: 4 tackles, 1 forced fumble

Robinson’s highlight came in the form of a forced fumble, but overall, his production was limited. He was a depth piece in the Jayhawks’ secondary.

TJ Lindsey, DL - Purdue

2025 Stats: 5 tackles, 1 TFL

Lindsey made a few plays for the Boilermakers, including a tackle for loss. He was part of the defensive line rotation but didn’t see major snaps.

CJ Johnson, S - New Mexico

2025 Stats: 1 tackle

Johnson’s season was largely quiet, with just one tackle to his name.

Gage Keys, DL - Kansas

2025 Stats: 1 tackle, 0.5 TFL

Keys saw limited action but did register a tackle for loss in his lone tackle of the year.

Micah Riley, TE - Texas A&M

2025 Stats: None

Riley didn’t see the field in 2025, and his role within the Aggies’ offense remains undefined.

Jaden Muskrat, OL - Virginia Tech

2025 Stats: None

Muskrat didn’t log any snaps this season, leaving his future role in question.

Caleb Burton III, WR - UConn

2025 Stats: None

Burton didn’t register any stats at UConn, and like several others, his impact was nonexistent this season.

Terrance Love, S - Colorado

2025 Stats: None

Love didn’t see any game action for Colorado in 2025.

Final Thoughts

Auburn’s 2025 transfer class was a mixed bag, but the Tigers can take some solace in the fact that several of their former players found success elsewhere - especially Keionte Scott and Camden Brown, who both earned postseason honors. Others, like Walker White and Holden Geriner, are still waiting for their breakout moment.

As the 2026 portal window approaches, Auburn will be looking to reload and retool. If recent history is any indication, the Tigers will be active - and the results, as always, will be worth watching.
