Auburn Tigers Stun With Four Big Wins in California Tournament

Auburn softball shines in California, wrapping up the Mary Nutter Classic with impressive victories over top-ranked teams.

The Tigers wrapped up their stint at the 2026 Mary Nutter Classic with an impressive 4-2 record. They secured victories over No. 18 Oregon, BYU, Washington, Cal State Fullerton, and California, all at the Big League Dreams Complex in Cathedral City, California.

Auburn, now standing at 13-4 for the season, kicked off the tournament with a split in Thursday's Big Ten doubleheader. They triumphed over Oregon (8-6) with a 10-5 win, but faced a tough 23-1 run-rule loss against No.

9 UCLA (13-3). The Tigers burst out of the gates with a six-run lead in the first two innings against Oregon.

Although the Ducks answered back with four runs, Auburn sealed the deal with three more in the seventh inning. AnnaLea Adams was a powerhouse, smashing a home run and driving in six RBIs.

However, the momentum didn’t carry into the game against UCLA. The Bruins unleashed an 18-run third inning and amassed 16 hits, leaving Auburn’s offense and pitching staff struggling to keep pace.

On Friday, Auburn bounced back in style against BYU (3-11) with a dominant 10-1 run-rule victory. Racking up nine hits and 10 runs in just four innings, Ma'Nia Womack and Haven Roebuck each launched a home run. Ella Harrison was solid on the mound, allowing just one unearned run on four hits and striking out five.

Saturday’s doubleheader saw mixed results for the Tigers. They fell to Washington 5-2, unable to ignite their offense until the final inning with two runs.

Washington had already established a lead with two early runs in the second and added more in the fifth. Destiny Rodriguez broke the ice with Auburn’s first hit in the sixth inning, though the team was limited to five hits overall.

Later that day, Auburn faced Cal State Fullerton in a classic pitching duel. Harrison and Trisha McClesky combined to allow just one hit and three walks, with Harrison striking out four. Rodriguez stepped up again, hitting a solo homer and driving in both of Auburn’s runs.

The Tigers wrapped up the tournament on a high note with a commanding 19-5 run-rule win against Cal on Sunday. They matched the program’s single-game home run record with six.

McKaela Walker and Roebuck each blasted two homers, while Womack and Delaney Aumua added one apiece. Auburn’s offense was relentless, scoring five runs in the first inning and piling on nine more in the third, maintaining control throughout the game.

Looking ahead, the Tigers will return home to face Troy on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST at Jane B. Moore Field, with the game available on SEC Network+.
