Auburn basketball fans have a reason to celebrate, as the Tigers snapped their five-game losing streak with a thrilling victory over Kentucky. While the win was a breath of fresh air, Auburn's performance still left room for improvement, particularly in closing out games.
Head coach Steven Pearl highlighted the need for better execution down the stretch. "We were up 4 at the under-4 media timeout and talked about having to finish," Pearl explained.
"We had two coverage mistakes on back-to-back possessions that led to 3s. Very similar to the Mississippi State game.
We've got to stop doing that if we want to win."
Despite the win against a storied program like Kentucky, Auburn knows there's work to be done as they look to build on this momentum. Next up, they face Oklahoma on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. CT in Norman, with the game broadcast on ESPNU.
For those tuning in, Roy Philpot and former Auburn standout Daymeon Fishback will provide the play-by-play and color commentary. Fans can also catch the action on the radio via WLWI FM (92.3) in Montgomery and WGZZ FM (94.3) in Auburn, with streaming options available online.
This matchup marks Auburn's first trip to Norman and the sixth all-time meeting between the Tigers and the Sooners, with previous games held either on the Plains or at neutral sites.
