In Arlington, Texas, the Auburn Tigers showcased their prowess by clinching the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series title with a 10-6 victory over Louisville. This triumph marked Auburn's eighth consecutive win at Globe Life Field, a streak that began in 2022, and their fourth victory against a top-15 opponent in this tournament.
Auburn's head coach, Butch Thompson, reflected on the team's offensive performance, stating, “We felt like we had scoring opportunities in almost every inning. Today’s five-run inning was a game-changer.”
Throughout the weekend, Auburn's bats were on fire, amassing 35 hits over three games and scoring in six innings in each of the last two matchups. A standout performer was Bristol Carter, who went 6-for-11 with a .643 on-base percentage, driving the team’s offensive surge.
Thompson praised Carter, highlighting his role as a key catalyst. Brandon McCraine and Ethin Bingaman also delivered significant contributions, with Bingaman hitting his first two career home runs in a breakout performance.
Bingaman’s two homers were a spectacle, traveling a combined 800 feet and leaving the bat with impressive velocity. He shared his approach, saying, “I was focused on hitting the fastball, and it paid off.”
Chase Fralick, making his debut at first base, continued his hitting streak, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Fralick emphasized the team’s relaxed approach and the importance of getting the leadoff man on base, which often led to scoring opportunities.
The game saw Auburn take an early lead with Caiden Combs driving in a run with his first career hit. The Tigers extended their advantage with runs in the third and fourth innings, including a double steal and Bingaman’s first homer.
Louisville fought back with a two-run homer from Tague Davis, but Auburn responded with Fralick’s opposite-field homer. Despite Louisville narrowing the gap with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, Auburn exploded with a five-run seventh inning. Bub Terrell’s two-strike single and Bingaman’s second homer highlighted the inning, pushing the lead to 9-3.
Christian Chatterton and Alex Petrovic combined efforts on the mound, with Petrovic earning his second win. Chatterton kept Louisville at bay, while LJ Cormier struck out six in 1.2 innings despite a fielding error extending the game. Garrett Brewer sealed the victory with a three-pitch strikeout.
Auburn now heads back to the Plains for a four-game stretch, beginning with a matchup against West Georgia at Plainsman Park. The Tigers are riding high on momentum, ready to continue their impressive form.
