He hasn’t topped 90 yards in a game yet and is averaging just 11 carries per contest. If Auburn can get Cobb going, the offense becomes much more balanced.
If not, the questions around the ground game are only going to get louder.
Singleton is another player who could help change the shape of this offense. Chas Nimrod could easily be part of this discussion too, since the two are tied with 17 total receptions, but Singleton has done more with his catches on a per-play basis so far. He’s totaled 230 yards and is averaging 13.5 yards per reception, which makes him a reliable way to move the chains.
The challenge is getting him the ball before the pocket breaks down. Florida sacked Byrum Brown seven times last week while he waited for routes to open up, and that kind of pressure can wreck timing in a hurry. Expect Auburn to try to work Singleton on quick throws, then mix in a deep shot or two if the opportunity is there.
