Keshaun Singleton keeps giving Alex Golesh the kind of response a coach loves to see.
After another strong fall camp scrimmage, Golesh said the Auburn receiver has the kind of ceiling that can separate him from just about anyone in the country - if the rest of his routine stays locked in.
“When his off-the-field process is right, he could be as special as there is in the country,” Golesh said.
That’s a strong endorsement, and it comes from someone who knows Singleton well. Golesh brought him to Auburn from South Florida, where Singleton had already shown what he can do in this offense. He knows the system, he already has a connection with quarterback Byrum Brown, and he understands exactly what his head coach is asking from him.
The ability has never been the issue.
Golesh wants the rest of it to line up with that talent.
After Auburn’s second scrimmage of fall camp, the head coach circled back to Singleton again, making it clear how much he believes in the receiver. That message carries extra weight coming after a quiet spring, when Singleton wasn’t the name drawing the most attention. Chas Nimrod, Deshawn Spencer, Christian Neptune and others grabbed more of the spotlight while Singleton stayed in the background and kept working.
Golesh noticed that, too. Now he wants that same approach every day.
Singleton was challenged to tighten up his process away from the field, and he answered with another strong scrimmage showing. That’s becoming a pattern.
He may not have generated the loudest buzz in camp, but his role in the offense has never really felt up for debate. Chas Nimrod has kept making plays.
Deshawn Spencer has started to emerge. Jeremiah Koger is still battling for more snaps.
Even so, Singleton’s place in the offense looks steady.
Golesh trusts him. Brown trusts him. That’s enough to matter.
Now Singleton has to keep proving it when the lights come on. He’s shown he can make plays when Auburn puts the ball down and lets him compete, but the next step is doing it against SEC competition. If he wants to become one of the best players in the country, it won’t be enough to flash in scrimmages.
It has to carry over starting in Atlanta in just a few weeks.

Coates pointed to a better team culture, more players in the program and help from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute as part of the turnaround.
