Auburn Makes Strong Impression On 4-Star DB

A promising defensive back, Jayden Aparicio-Bailey, finds a welcoming atmosphere and strategic potential at Auburn, deepening his interest in joining the Tigers.

Jayden Aparicio-Bailey's recent visit to Auburn left quite an impression on the talented four-star safety from Prattville High School. His connection with Auburn's coaching staff was evident, and it seems the feeling was mutual. "I felt like a priority here," Aparicio-Bailey shared, reflecting on his time with the team.

This wasn't his first visit to Auburn, but it was his inaugural experience with the new coaching staff. He had the chance to witness the Tigers in action during practice, and the competitive spirit on both sides of the ball caught his attention. "Defense had their wins, offense had their wins," he noted, appreciating the balanced success.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 195 pounds, Aparicio-Bailey is listed as a safety by 247Sports, but Auburn sees him fitting in as a cornerback. This aligns with the profile of their current corners, making him a valuable prospect for the team.

A key figure in his recruitment is Auburn's safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator, Tim Banks. The two have a history from Banks' tenure at Tennessee, and this relationship is pivotal in Auburn's pursuit of Aparicio-Bailey. He expressed a desire to play cornerback, a position Auburn is keen to have him fill.

Cornerbacks coach DeMarcus Van Dyke is also playing a significant role in Aparicio-Bailey's recruitment. The young athlete spoke highly of Van Dyke, appreciating his firsthand experience as a former player. "He’s relatable," Aparicio-Bailey said, valuing Van Dyke's insights from his playing days.

Head coach Alex Golesh also made a strong impression. Aparicio-Bailey praised Golesh for his down-to-earth nature and his keen understanding of his game. "He’s watched my film," Aparicio-Bailey mentioned, recognizing Golesh's commitment to player development.

Last season, Aparicio-Bailey showcased his versatility at Oak Mountain High School, excelling on both offense and defense. He recorded 40 tackles, four pass deflections, and four interceptions, alongside 13 receptions for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

Ranked as the No. 173 overall player and the ninth-best safety by the 247Sports composite, Aparicio-Bailey is a sought-after recruit. While Auburn is a strong contender, they face stiff competition from powerhouse programs like Georgia and Clemson. However, his visit to the Plains has certainly boosted Auburn's standing in his eyes.
