Auburn Lands Major 2027 Recruit in Four-Star DL Donivan Moore
Auburn just took a big step forward in building its 2027 recruiting class, landing one of the top defensive prospects in the country. Donivan Moore, a consensus four-star defensive lineman out of Hueytown High School in Alabama, announced his commitment to the Tigers on Thursday - and it’s a win that should have Auburn fans fired up about what’s to come.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 280 pounds, Moore brings size, athleticism, and versatility to the trenches. He’s not just a regional standout - he’s a top-100 player nationally, according to multiple recruiting services.
Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, he checks in as the No. 72 overall player in the 2027 class, a top-five defensive lineman, and the top-ranked recruit in the entire state of Alabama. That’s the kind of elite talent that can anchor a defensive front for years.
And Moore’s production backs up the hype. As just a sophomore, he racked up 58 tackles, including nine for loss, seven sacks, two forced fumbles, and a pair of pick-sixes.
That’s not a typo - Moore showed off his range and instincts by taking two interceptions to the house. For a player his size, that kind of playmaking ability is rare, and it speaks to the kind of high-ceiling defender Auburn is bringing in.
This marks the second commitment in Auburn’s 2027 class, following the pledge of three-star tight end Trae Proctor back on January 19. With Moore now in the fold, the class has jumped significantly in the rankings - moving from 54th to 36th nationally and climbing from 15th to 11th in the SEC, according to 247Sports’ class calculator.
It’s still early in the cycle, but this is the kind of foundational piece that can help a staff build momentum. Moore’s commitment is a statement - not just about Auburn’s ability to recruit top in-state talent, but about the direction the program is heading under Alex Golesh. Locking down a player of Moore’s caliber this early sends a clear message: Auburn’s not waiting around to compete - they’re building now.
