Auburn Just Sent A Loud Recruiting Message Across Alabama

Auburn's new head coach Alex Golesh is redefining the local recruiting landscape, securing commitments from top Alabama prospects and solidifying the team's in-state dominance.

Auburn’s in-state recruiting surge is starting to show up in the numbers, and the latest 247Sports data makes the picture pretty clear.

The Tigers now have commitments from three of the top 10 committed prospects in Alabama, more than any other program in the country. Miami is next with two, and no other school has more than one.

That kind of haul says plenty about what Alex Golesh is building. He’s not boxing Auburn into one recruiting lane. The Tigers are still chasing talent wherever it lives, but they’re also making Alabama a priority again - and doing it with real force.

Auburn’s 2027 class already includes five recruits from Alabama, and three of them are on that top-10 committed list. The group is led by Isaac McNeil, the No. 2 player in the state, who committed in early June and gave Auburn a major boost at linebacker for the future.

The Tigers also pulled off a big win when they landed Deshawn Hall from Penn State. Hall, a four-star wide receiver and the No. 7 player in Alabama, gives Auburn another important piece for a receiver room that needs talent back at a high level.

Another key name is Donivan Moore, Auburn’s first defensive commit in the 2027 class. Moore committed in February, when he was the No. 1 defensive lineman in the state. He’s now behind Marquis Evans, who is a popular pick to end up at Auburn as soon as July 1.

Auburn’s work in the state doesn’t stop with the top-10 committed prospects, either. The Tigers have also added Cedrick Simmons, a three-star wide receiver who averaged more than 20 yards per catch during his junior high school season, along with Preston Williams, a three-star safety who was part of a major recruiting weekend for the program.

For a while, Auburn’s in-state push looked quiet from the outside. But the way this class is coming together suggests Golesh and his staff never backed off at all. They just kept working without much noise.

One Former Auburn QB Could Deepen The Hugh Freeze Embarrassment

The quarterback debate around Auburn does not end when a player leaves town, and that is part of what makes the next wave of transfers and moves around college football so uncomfortable for Hugh Freeze. If former Tigers and former Freeze-era quarterbacks go on to look polished in 2026 at their new stops, it will only sharpen the criticism around how Auburn handled the most important position on the field during his tenure.

Jackson Arnold is at the center of that conversation, because a strong season away from Auburn would invite the obvious question about whether the Tigers ever got the best version of him in the first place. Add in the possibility of other former Auburn players like Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr. popping elsewhere, and the broader picture becomes even more pointed for a program trying to move on, with Alex Golesh looming as the coach many around the program would rather see write the next chapter. Walker Kessler Could Be On Verge Of A Massive Auburn Statement

Walker Kesslers next contract is shaping up to be another reminder of how far Auburns NBA pipeline has come. The former Tigers big man, now a restricted free agent with the Utah Jazz, has reportedly already met with multiple teams and is drawing interest at a level that would put him in a different financial tier than most players leaving the college ranks.

For Auburn fans, the eye-opener is not just the size of the looming offers, but the possibility that Kessler could end up topping the deal recently signed by Jabari Smith, another Auburn alumnus. There also appears to be real uncertainty about whether Kessler wants to stay in Utah at all, which makes this one of the more intriguing offseason situations to watch for a program that keeps sending more talent to the league.
