Auburn Just Gave Fans A Reason To Watch One Elite Recruiting Battle

Auburn's strategic recruitment efforts may soon gain a significant boost as four-star prospect Jeremiah Tillman reveals interest in joining the Tigers' formidable defensive lineup.

Auburn’s recruiting push into the future got another jolt on Wednesday, and this time the target came with plenty of national buzz attached.

The Tigers extended an offer to Jeremiah Tillman, a four-star edge rusher and linebacker in the class of 2029 who already checks in at 6-foot-2 and 207 pounds. Tillman is ranked as the 11th-best edge rusher in the country and the 11th-best player in Georgia in his class, giving Auburn a shot at one of the early standouts in the cycle.

Tillman was quick to notice what Auburn is selling on defense.

“What stood out to me about Auburn was the football culture and how physical and aggressive the defense plays,” he said. “I liked how the defense flies to the ball, plays fast, and focuses on being disciplined. As a linebacker, I also noticed how the defense gives linebackers opportunities to make plays and attack the offense.”

That pitch comes at a time when Auburn’s linebacker room and edge presence already have some serious juice, with the unit built around some of the best linebackers in the country and a strong pass-rush group led by Ole Miss transfer Da’Shawn Womack, who had back-to-back sacks against Tennessee last week.

Tillman’s offer list is already crowded with heavy hitters. Alabama, Florida and Tennessee are among the schools that have offered, but he said Auburn could “definitely be a front runner” in his recruitment.

The Georgia prospect also has a trip to Auburn circled. He plans to visit the Plains on October 24, when Auburn is set to host LSU at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

“[The] first thing that comes to mind about Auburn is the atmosphere,” he said. “I can imagine myself playing in there.”

Auburn has one commitment in its 2028 class, quarterback Sam Sollie, and is still looking for its first pledge in 2029. Tillman would give the Tigers an early anchor for that group, while also bringing a potential long-term piece to DJ Durkin’s defense.

Auburn Heads Into Bye Week Clinging To One Reason For Hope

Auburn heads into its bye week with a lot to sort through after taking a second loss to Tennessee, but there was at least one encouraging sign to carry forward. Center Cole Best pointed to the teams unity and its refusal to quit even as the game turned difficult, and Auburn did show some improvement in the run game during the second half. For a team still trying to settle into the grind of SEC competition, those are the kinds of small but meaningful details that can keep a locker room from splintering.

Head coach Alex Golesh has kept the focus on accountability without turning to finger-pointing, which matters when the results are not matching the effort. The bigger concern is the sense that Auburn may simply be working through a talent gap against the leagues more complete rosters, a challenge that does not disappear over a bye week. Still, if there is one reason for hope, it is that the Tigers continue to play for one another even while the margin for error keeps shrinking. [Read more 🡒]

Auburns Tennessee Loss Exposed A Problem Up Front Fans Feared

Auburns loss at Tennessee did more than add another blemish to the record. It put a spotlight on the kind of issues that have been hovering around the Tigers for weeks, especially up front, where the run defense and offensive line both drew harsh reviews in Pro Football Focus grading of the game. In a 24-14 defeat, the numbers backed up what the eye test suggested: Tennessee was able to control too much of the game at the line of scrimmage.

The PFF breakdown also offered a closer look at how individual players fared in the matchup, with Donovan Haslam, Mark Matthews, David Sanders Jr. and Dejuan Lane all evaluated for their roles. On the other side, Tennessee quarterback George MacIntyre earned strong marks for his efficient work after replacing Faizon Brandon, which only added to Auburns frustration. For a team trying to steady itself, the concern is not just the result in Knoxville, but what it says about how difficult the Tigers are becoming to trust where the trenches decide games. Bo Nix Sends Clear Message As Broncos Questions Keep Growing

The Broncos latest setback came in a 24-14 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and with it came another week of familiar frustration on offense. Under offensive coordinator Davis Webb and quarterback Bo Nix, Denver has now dealt with four straight weeks of uneven production, even though the unit managed to finish with slightly more total yards than its season average against a strong defense.

Nix tried to push back against the growing questions afterward, showing confidence in Webb and stressing that the players have to do their part to help a young coordinator. The message was clear: the Broncos do not see the answer as a wholesale overhaul, but rather a need for better execution and better support around the system they already have in place. [Read more 🡒]
