Auburn Is Holding Onto A 4-Star WR Other Programs Want

Prattville's DeShawn Hall solidifies Auburn's future with a firm commitment, prioritizing the Tigers over several SEC rivals.

DeShawn Hall isn’t wavering.

The 2027 four-star wide receiver from Prattville High School in Alabama says he remains verbally committed to Auburn and has no intention of taking visits elsewhere this season. His message was simple and direct: "If it ain't on the Plains, I ain't going."

Hall has continued to hear from other programs, but that hasn’t changed where he stands with the Tigers. He said schools such as Alabama, Kentucky and Vanderbilt have been in touch, though his pledge to Auburn is still firm.

"I really wouldn't say hugely pursuing, but I have like been contacted by schools like Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt. Know where home is.

We staying On The Plains."

That loyalty lines up with what Hall told Touchdown Auburn when he first explained why Auburn was the right fit. "It’s the people that make the difference between a house and a home," Hall told Touchdown Auburn.

"Auburn is a place that didn’t take long at all to feel like home. Another thing is I truly believe that the coaches around me can help me maximize my potential.

I feel like they have not only the want and desire for me to be my best, but they also have the tools and skills that they need to help me get there."

On the field, Hall brings a rare frame to the receiver spot. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds, his basketball background shows up fast on junior film.

He’s a difficult matchup in contested situations and can go get the ball above defenders. He also has the ability to separate in ways you don’t usually see from a receiver his size.

Auburn Could Be Headed For A Bowl Twist Fans Will Notice

ESPNs Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach are already projecting Auburn into bowl season, which gives the Tigers at least a little national confidence even as the schedule remains demanding. The path is not simple, though, and Auburn still has to take care of key business along the way, including games against Arkansas and Samford if it wants to reach bowl eligibility.

If the Tigers do get there, the destination could carry an interesting wrinkle. One projected landing spot is the Birmingham Bowl against North Carolina, while another has Auburn in the Gasparilla Bowl against South Florida, a matchup that would stand out because of head coach Alex Goleshs previous connection to USF. For Auburn fans, the bowl picture is starting to feel less like a distant hope and more like a possible subplot worth tracking. [Read more 🡒]

Alex Golesh Sent A Clear Message On Auburn Recruiting And Defense

Alex Golesh used a stop in Mobile to make a familiar pitch with a local twist, putting Auburns recruiting priorities and defensive expectations right in front of a room full of supporters. Speaking as the keynote at the 68 Ventures Bowl 1st & 10 Club meeting, the Auburn coach pointed to the Mobile area as a place his program needs to keep investing in, while making it clear he believes the region has the kind of talent the Tigers want to land.

Golesh also leaned into what Auburn can sell once prospects get to campus, especially for in-state players who can stay close to home and still compete at a high level. On defense, he sounded encouraged by what Auburn has in place, but he framed the next step as a matter of consistency and detail, a reminder that the Tigers standard will be built as much on execution as on promise. Steven Pearls Auburn Promise Comes With One Big Year 2 Question

Auburns annual Pro Day practice inside Neville Arena brought NBA scouts back to campus, giving the Tigers a chance to show how far the roster has come since last season. Steven Pearl spent part of the day talking through the offseason, the way the group has developed and what the staff has seen in the early stages of fall work. The main themes were hard to miss: more size, better shooting and a team that believes it has real offensive upside entering the new year.

Pearl also pointed to the upcoming exhibition games as another checkpoint before the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana. Auburn enters with plenty of optimism about how it can score, but the bigger question still hangs over everything else. The Tigers know the ceiling will depend on how quickly the defense catches up to the rest of the rosters growth, and that is where the early attention is likely to stay. [Read more 🡒]
