Auburn’s quarterback conversation may already be tilting toward the future, and Tristan Ti’a is the name drawing the loudest buzz.
The sophomore transfer from Oregon State has moved into the QB2 spot behind Byrum Brown, and the praise coming from inside the room has been strong. Tight end Arlis Boardingham called Ti’a an “operator” in an interview with Locked On Auburn host Zach Blackerby, and Brown backed that up with an even bigger endorsement.
Brown said Ti’a “throws a pretty ball” before going further and calling him “everything you look for in a quarterback.”
That kind of praise matters, especially coming from a quarterback who has already done big things at the college level. Brown passed for 3,000 yards and rushed for 1,000 yards last year, a feat only 13 quarterbacks in college football history have matched.
The belief in Ti’a isn’t just about arm talent, either. Both Brown and Boardingham pointed to the way he handles himself in meetings and on the practice field. The message from the veterans was clear: he may not be the loudest player in the building, but he shows up with the kind of consistency coaches want from a young quarterback in the SEC.
That’s why Ti’a is starting to look like more than just a backup name on the depth chart. With Gary Chatman Jr. in the 2027 class and buzz building around the possibility of adding a top Alabama quarterback for 2028, Auburn’s future at the position already has some moving parts.
