Auburn Gets A Start Time Fans Have Reason To Dread

Auburn is set to break its early kickoff curse in a renewed rivalry clash against Mississippi State.

Auburn’s trip to Mississippi State in Week 11 will come with an early alarm.

The Southeastern Conference announced its start times and TV windows for the Nov. 14 slate, and the Tigers will meet the Bulldogs at 11 a.m. CT in Starkville. The game will air on ESPN or ESPN 2 and be played at Davis Wade Stadium.

It’s a familiar matchup for Auburn, which is set to renew a rivalry that has been on pause for two years. The Tigers have faced Mississippi State more often than Florida, LSU, Tennessee, and even Alabama, with 97 meetings against the Bulldogs. Only Georgia has appeared on Auburn’s schedule more times, with 131 games between the two programs.

Auburn won the most recent meeting in 2023, taking a 27-13 victory, and has gone 8-6 against Mississippi State since the 2010 season.

The timing also adds another wrinkle for Auburn. The Tigers are 0-2 in games that kicked off before noon CT this season, and they’ll get another early start this Saturday against Arkansas in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn will be hoping the next two weekends bring a different result.

The rest of the SEC’s Week 11 schedule includes Alabama at Vanderbilt at 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network; Ole Miss at Oklahoma and Tennessee at Texas A&M, both set for 2 p.m.

CT or 3:15 p.m. CT on ESPN or SEC Network; Missouri at Georgia and Texas at LSU, both listed for 2:30 p.m.

CT or 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC; Florida at Kentucky at 5 p.m.

CT or 6 p.m. CT on ESPN; and South Carolina at Arkansas at 6:45 p.m.

CT on SEC Network.

Auburns Offense Has A Huge November Chance To Change Everything

October left Auburn with plenty to sort through on offense, and the schedule did not do the Tigers any favors. Four top-16 opponents helped explain the grind, but it still was not the kind of production this group expected in the first season under Alex Golesh, even with the upset win over Georgia providing a signature moment along the way.

November now gives Auburn a different kind of test and a different kind of opportunity. The Tigers will see less daunting SEC defenses over the final stretch, and the stakes are clear: a chance to push toward their first bowl bid since 2023 and their first winning record since 2020 if the offense can finally start matching the rest of the season's promise. Auburn May Have Found An Answer On Its Shaky Offensive Line

Auburns offensive line has been one of the more unsettled parts of the season, so Jacobe Wards first start at right guard against Ole Miss stood out as a notable development. The sophomore had been working in limited action before earning the job after a competition with teammate Cole Skinner, giving the Tigers a new look at a spot that has needed more stability.

Alex Golesh said the lines performance will continue to be evaluated, and Auburn appears likely to keep rotating pieces as the final games of the season play out. For a unit still searching for the right combination, Wards emergence at least gives the staff another option to consider as it tries to settle things down up front. [Read more 🡒]

Auburn May Have Found The WR Answer It Suddenly Needed

Christian Neptunes timing could not have been much better. With Jeremiah Koger out, Auburn needed another receiver to step into a bigger role, and Neptune delivered his best game yet in the loss to Ole Miss, finishing with five catches for 53 yards while handling more of the passing-game load than usual.

Alex Golesh came away impressed with the way Neptune played, pointing to a confident and complete performance that fit what Auburn was asking for in the moment. The bigger question now is whether that showing can carry over if Koger remains limited, with the Tigers set to get another look at the receiver room before next weeks matchup against Arkansas.
