Alex Golesh’s recruiting work is already paying off in Auburn’s 2027 class, and Deshawn Hall just gave Tigers fans another reason to keep an eye on the future.
Hall, a four-star Auburn commit, delivered a huge night for Prattville in a Friday matchup against Hoover, then rolled into Auburn the next day to watch the Tigers handle Southern Miss 43-8. Between the performance on the field and the visit on the Plains, it was a busy 24 hours for one of Auburn’s biggest wide receiver pledges.
Against Hoover, Hall helped Prattville pull out a wild 30-29 win with a last-second drive that ended in an 11-yard touchdown catch from Hall with 13 seconds left. He finished with 10 receptions for 136 receiving yards and the lone score.
“The coaches told me that the ball was coming my way,” Hall said, per Al.com’s Jeff George. “I knew that I had to make a play for my teammates.
“This was a big win for us. I think we have shown we are for real in the region this year.”
Hall’s Auburn visit came the very next day, and he saw the Tigers put together a dominant win over Southern Miss. Auburn even worked true freshman Deshawn Spencer into a touchdown drive in the second quarter.
Despite interest from other programs, Hall remains locked in with Auburn, and his Saturday trip seemed to reinforce that choice.
“The sky is the limit for Auburn. I feel like they're just barely scraping the surface,” he said. “I feel like they've still got a good ways to go and they know that.”
Hall committed to Auburn in June after being projected to land at Penn State for much of the process. He had been listed as more than a 90% favorite to end up with the Nittany Lions until the week before his Auburn commitment, when a Steve Wiltfong prediction swung things toward the Tigers.
He is one of two wide receiver commitments in Auburn’s 2027 class, alongside Brylan Odour, a three-star speed threat from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. For now, though, Hall is the name that stands out in that group.
Golesh is still early in his time as Auburn’s head coach, but landing and keeping players like Hall gives the Tigers a strong foundation as that 2027 class continues to take shape.

With Auburn heading into the Florida game, Alex Golesh spent part of his weekly media session talking less about the matchup itself and more about the foundation he is trying to build in his first year. The Auburn coach said his focus has been on establishing a clear identity and a stronger culture, and he pointed to the way his players are competing for one another as a sign the locker room is moving in the right direction.
Golesh also made clear the job is far from finished, with plenty of challenges still ahead in a league that does not give many easy answers.
