Alex Golesh used SEC Media Days to send a pretty clear message about where Auburn stands under his watch: the standards are high, and he’s not interested in pretending otherwise.
That started with his own appearance. In a photo shared by Tigers quarterback Byrum Brown on X, Golesh looked to be in the best shape of his coaching career while attending the event at the Tampa Marriott Water Street and the neighboring JW Marriott.

The bigger point, though, was the one Golesh made with his words. He didn’t lean on the usual offseason optimism or act like Auburn had already arrived just because recruiting has gone well. Instead, he put the burden back where he thinks it belongs.
“...signing day is in December, so we need to have success on the field to validate what we’ve been preaching,” Golesh said.

He also addressed the situation involving Ole Miss Rebels transfer linebacker Da'Shawn Womack, whose arrest in North Auburn in June is being handled internally while the legal process continues.

The Bulls’ fan base has been hard on him for taking interviews with AU and the Arkansas Razorbacks during the 2025 season, even as Jon Sumrall did the same thing with the Tulane Green Wave when he interviewed with the Tigers and Florida Gators around the same time.
