Alabama Suffers Major Recruiting Loss - And This One Hurts

Brysen Wright's commitment and reclassification to the 2027 class mark a major recruiting win for Miami, securing their position as a dominant force in college football.

Miami just landed one of the biggest names in the country, and got a bonus surprise with it.

Brysen Wright, the top-rated wide receiver in the 2028 class, committed to the Hurricanes on Thursday, picking Miami over Texas and Florida. Then he added the twist: he is reclassifying to 2027.

Wright has been a major target for a long time. He first started drawing heavy attention as a freshman at St. Augustine High School, and the 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver has since become the top in-state recruit for Mandarin High School in Jacksonville.

The offer sheet tells the story of just how sought-after he was. Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Louisville, Texas A&M, Oregon, and Tennessee all extended offers before Wright narrowed things down to Miami, Florida, and Texas. Miami got in early, too, becoming the first program to offer him officially in December 2023.

Since then, Wright has been around the Hurricanes plenty. He made repeated trips to campus for junior day events, elite recruiting weekend events, and summer prospect camps. His most recent visit came a couple of weeks ago, when he watched Miami beat Florida State in double overtime.

On the field, Wright has backed up the hype. As a sophomore in 2025, he caught 46 passes for 903 yards and earned Sophomore All-American honors from MaxPreps.

That same site lists him with 46 receptions for 984 yards and 11 touchdowns for the 9-1 Mustangs. His next stop is the Florida Class 5A playoffs.

Wright also has a connection to the Hurricanes already in place. He has been catching passes this season from 3-star 2028 quarterback Knox Annis, another Miami commit. The Hurricanes also hold a pledge from 4-star offensive lineman Kweli Fielder out of Carrollton, Ga. in the 2028 class.

For Mario Cristobal and his staff, Wright’s decision adds another jolt to a recruiting run that’s already been strong. Miami had previously landed five 5-star recruits in the 2027 class, and the Hurricanes are still in the hunt for 5-star edge-rusher DJ Jacobs and 5-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews with the Early Signing Period a month away. If Miami can close on both, it would cap off what’s shaping up to be a historic class for the ACC powerhouse.

Auburn Fans Face A New Jordan-Hare Gameday Routine This Weekend

Auburn fans heading to Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend will notice a different gameday rhythm as the North Project continues to reshape the stadiums north end. Auburn Athletics has been making operational changes around the venue to keep foot traffic moving, including adding metal detectors, reworking concession stand placement, relocating medical cart areas, boosting personnel and putting up more signage to ease congestion.

The construction is a long-term undertaking, with the project set to run through spring 2029 while keeping Jordan-Hares seating capacity intact. For now, the focus is on helping fans navigate a busier footprint without losing the familiar atmosphere that makes home Saturdays at Auburn feel like home, even as the stadium around them keeps changing. Auburns Offense Faces One Familiar Problem Against Arkansas

Alex Golesh has made it clear Auburns offense cannot afford another uneven night when Arkansas comes to town, and the message starts with the basics: run the ball, stay on schedule and keep Byrum Brown upright. The Tigers have leaned on those themes all season, but this matchup puts a sharper spotlight on them, especially with the offensive line expected to be tested by Arkansass pass rush.

Auburn is looking for a cleaner showing in the trenches, where improved rushing production would help control tempo and give the offense more time on the field. The formula is straightforward enough, but the challenge is making it hold up for four quarters, and the Tigers will need all three of their offensive priorities to come together if they want to avoid another familiar problem. Auburn Faces Real Pressure In What Feels Like A Must-Have Arkansas Game

The weekly picks from The Auburn Daily staff were as clear as they come, with every voter backing Auburn to handle Arkansas in a game that already carries a little extra weight. Around the SEC, the panel also weighed in on other marquee matchups, including Alabama against LSU and Georgia against Ole Miss, but for Auburn the focus is squarely on a meeting that feels hard to sidestep in the bigger picture of the season.

A unanimous prediction does not erase the pressure, though. Auburn has reached the point where a win over Arkansas feels less like a nice step forward and more like a result it needs to keep the season on track, which is exactly why this one stands out on the schedule. The confidence from the staff says plenty about how the matchup is viewed, but the stakes around it are what make the game worth watching. [Read more 🡒]
