Ronald Nored Shares Emotional Hawks Goodbye Before Butler Move

Ronald Nored bids an emotional farewell to the Atlanta Hawks as he steps into his new role as head coach for the Butler Bulldogs, reconnecting with his alma mater.

Ronald Nored is stepping into a new chapter of his coaching journey, leaving behind a heartfelt farewell with the Atlanta Hawks. After serving as an assistant coach in the NBA since 2018 and spending the last three years with the Hawks, Nored is set to become the head coach of the Butler Bulldogs in college basketball.

This transition is a significant milestone for Nored, marking the end of his NBA tenure, but he made sure to express his gratitude to his Atlanta colleagues for an incredible experience. In a candid moment before the Hawks' game against Detroit, Nored shared his excitement and appreciation.

"You all know I've been in and out the last couple of days," Nored said on March 25. "I've been going through a process, interviewing for a new job.

Sometimes it doesn't go your way, but this one's gone my way. I'm going to Butler.

It's a quick transition, so I won't be at the game tonight, but Atlanta's been a great experience for me."

Nored's connection to Butler runs deep. He played for the Bulldogs from 2008 to 2012, contributing to the team’s runs to the national championship games in 2010 and 2011 under the guidance of coach Brad Stevens. Now, he's bringing his NBA-honed skills back to his alma mater.

The Hawks, currently holding a 41-32 record and the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference, are riding a wave of three consecutive wins. They sit ahead of the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers, while trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.

Next up, they face a road challenge against the Boston Celtics on March 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

As Nored embarks on this new venture, he carries with him the invaluable lessons learned in Atlanta, ready to make his mark on Butler basketball.
