The Atlanta Hawks are hitting their stride at just the right moment, and it's a team effort that's powering their success. With contributions coming from all corners, one standout performer has been Nickeil Alexander-Walker. His March performances have been nothing short of stellar, showcasing some of the most efficient play we've seen this season, especially when you dive into his true shooting percentage.
Alexander-Walker is lighting up the scoreboard with an impressive 22.8 points per game this month. He's shooting a scorching 54.4% from the field and a remarkable 47.9% from beyond the arc. Not only is he racking up points, but he's also locking down some of the league's top players on defense.
Hawks head coach Quin Snyder highlighted the key to Alexander-Walker's success: staying aggressive. “We’ve emphasized from the beginning that his aggressiveness is crucial,” Snyder shared.
“It's about understanding that his impact isn't just about making shots. When things aren't clicking, we analyze and work on it.
His tremendous work ethic is paying off, and you can see the game slowing down for him.”
Teammate CJ McCollum, who joined the squad mid-season, has witnessed Alexander-Walker's dedication firsthand. “He puts in the work,” McCollum noted.
“Even on off nights, he's in the gym with his son, focusing on his game and recovery. I'm there to support him, answer questions, and sometimes remind him to pace himself.
He’s so committed that I have to tell him to ease up on those marathon workouts.”
Coming into the season, Alexander-Walker was aware of the high expectations placed on him by the Hawks. His continuous improvement has been pivotal, and as the team eyes a top-six finish in the Eastern Conference, they'll be counting on him to maintain this upward trajectory into April.
