Mavericks Linked to Trade Talks as Hawks and Raptors Circle Anthony Davis

As trade talks swirl, the Mavericks are holding firm on Anthony Davis value despite growing interest from teams hoping for a discount.

Trade Talks Swirl Around Anthony Davis, But Mavericks Holding Firm on Asking Price

The Dallas Mavericks are getting plenty of calls about Anthony Davis - but if teams are hoping for a discount, they might want to hang up and try again later.

According to league sources, the Hawks, Raptors, and Bulls have all reached out to gauge the Mavericks’ interest in moving Davis. The catch?

Those teams are reportedly hoping to land the All-Star forward at a bargain. That’s not something Dallas is entertaining.

The Mavericks’ stance is clear: they’re not in the business of giving away a player they still view as a premium asset. When general manager Nico Harrison made the move to bring Davis to Dallas in a blockbuster deal involving Luka Dončić, the price tag was steep - and the front office hasn’t forgotten that.

As one insider put it, “Teams like Atlanta and Toronto and Chicago that have called about Anthony Davis, they want to get him for cheap. That’s not what Dallas has any interest in doing. They want to sell him for the type of value Nico Harrison thought he was worth when he traded for him for Luka Doncic.”

Davis’ availability has been limited this season due to a left calf injury, with the big man suiting up for just 14 games so far. But when he’s been on the floor, he’s produced. He’s averaging 21.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 51.7% from the field - numbers that still speak to his two-way impact, even if the sample size is small.

Since arriving in Dallas last season, Davis has played in 23 total games, averaging 20.6 points and 11.0 boards. It’s a relatively short résumé in a Mavericks uniform, but it’s enough to remind teams around the league of what he brings when healthy: elite rim protection, rebounding, and a versatile offensive skill set that can complement just about any star.

Financially, Davis is on the books for $54.1 million this season and will be eligible for a four-year, $275 million extension in August. He doesn’t have a no-trade clause, which gives Dallas some flexibility if they do decide to explore a move - but they’re in no rush to sell low.

It’s also worth noting that Davis isn’t the only name Dallas is reportedly listening to offers on. The Mavericks are doing their due diligence across the board, with Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, and D’Angelo Russell also surfacing in trade discussions. But Davis remains the headline.

His name has been in circulation more frequently since Harrison’s dismissal as GM, raising questions about whether the new front office might pivot in a different direction. Still, unless a team comes to the table with a serious offer - one that reflects Davis’ value when healthy - Dallas appears content to sit tight.

For now, the Mavericks are holding their ground. Anthony Davis may be available in theory, but he’s not going anywhere on the cheap.
