ATLANTA - The Atlanta Hawks bounced back in style after their 11-game winning streak was halted by the Houston Rockets. Facing the Golden State Warriors, the Hawks had to adapt quickly, especially with Jalen Johnson sidelined due to left shoulder inflammation.
In the first half, the absence of Johnson was palpable, and the Warriors, despite missing key players themselves, kept things competitive. But the Hawks found their rhythm in the second half, launching an explosive run in the third quarter that propelled them to a commanding 126-110 victory.
The Hawks' success this season has been a collective effort, and this game was no exception. Head Coach Quin Snyder emphasized the team's unity: “We’re a team regardless of who’s on the floor.
Different guys step up each night, and that’s our strength. We’re focused on scoring as a unit, not individual accolades.
Missing Jalen is tough, but it’s about the team stepping up until he’s back.”
Dyson Daniels was a standout performer, contributing 28 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. “I try to do a bit of everything,” Daniels shared.
“Defense is my foundation, but pushing the pace and finding my teammates is key. Tonight, I hit some shots, and it felt good.”
Stepping into Johnson’s role, Mouhamed Gueye was flawless, shooting 6-of-6 for 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. “I just focus on doing my job,” Gueye said.
“Tonight, I got open looks and made them. I hope to keep it going.”
The third quarter was pivotal, as the Hawks unleashed a 25-5 run, fueled by CJ McCollum’s 13-point burst. “Our defense stepped up, leading to better offensive opportunities,” Snyder noted. “CJ’s shooting was crucial during that stretch.”
With the momentum firmly in their grasp, the Hawks maintained control in the fourth quarter, while the Warriors struggled to mount a comeback. This victory keeps the Hawks securely in the No. 6 spot in the Eastern Conference standings, especially with Miami and Orlando both losing.
“This win was crucial for us,” Daniels remarked. “We need every victory we can get, and I’m glad we secured this one.”
The Hawks continue to demonstrate resilience and depth, crucial elements as they push deeper into the season.
