Stetson Bennett is biding his time in Los Angeles, waiting for his moment to shine in the NFL. While he hasn't yet taken a meaningful snap in a regular-season game, that doesn't mean he's not prepared to lead an offense when the opportunity arises.
With one year left on his contract, Bennett remains the backup to Matthew Stafford for the Rams. Georgia fans appreciate the luxury of having a backup like Bennett, but ESPN has raised concerns, labeling him as the Rams' biggest vulnerability this season.
Bill Barnwell from ESPN pointed out, “The only position that would really scare me right now if I were the Rams is at quarterback, which is weird to say given that the reigning league MVP will be returning in 2026.”
This skepticism toward Bennett might baffle Georgia fans, who remember his standout performances during last year's NFL preseason. While it's true that preseason success doesn't always translate to the regular season, it certainly offers a glimpse of potential. Many players have spent time on the bench before seizing their chance to excel, and Bennett could very well be the next to do so.
Take Tom Brady, for instance-he started his career on the bench before becoming one of the greatest quarterbacks in history. While no one is suggesting Bennett will follow directly in Brady's footsteps, he certainly deserves a fair shot to prove himself.
In time, Bennett will likely get his chance to start in the regular season, and when that day comes, he'll have the opportunity to silence the doubters and showcase his abilities on the field.
