Tyler Allgeier Linked to New Team, Falcons Fans May Not Be Happy

Despite fans' dismay, a potential move for Tyler Allgeier to the Denver Broncos aligns well with their strategic goals and Payton's offensive vision.

When it comes to life’s certainties, we can now add Tyler Allgeier leaving the Atlanta Falcons this offseason to the list. Falcons fans might want to hold onto him, but with Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts all eyeing new extensions, the financial room just isn’t there.

Allgeier is likely on the hunt for a starting role or at least an increased presence in free agency, and he certainly won’t lack for interested teams. One intriguing possibility, as suggested by NFL Network’s Steve Wyche, is the Denver Broncos-a move that might not sit well with Falcons fans given the team’s rivalry with Sean Payton.

Wyche’s pitch for Allgeier to the Broncos makes sense, especially considering Denver’s need to bolster their backfield with J.K. Dobbins likely not returning. Payton’s history of crafting potent rushing attacks, like the one with Mark Ingram II and Alvin Kamara during the Saints’ heyday, adds weight to this potential move.

In Denver, Allgeier could step into a role reminiscent of Ingram’s, bringing his prowess as one of the NFL’s top short-yardage backs. Despite being behind Bijan, Allgeier managed eight touchdowns in 2025 and showcased his ability to handle a larger workload with over 1,000 rushing yards as a rookie.

The Broncos have their own emerging talent in rookie RJ Harvey, who would take on the Kamara-like role as a versatile third-down back. Together, Harvey and Allgeier could form a dynamic duo, with Allgeier serving as the power back to wear down defenses.

This combination could be just what Denver needs. Allgeier wouldn’t require 250 carries to make an impact, and his presence would create a formidable two-headed backfield. Given that the Broncos were just a Bo Nix injury away from a Super Bowl appearance, adding Allgeier might be the key to extending their championship window and potentially securing another Lombardi Trophy under Payton’s guidance.
