The Atlanta Falcons have a lot of moving parts heading into camp, but one undrafted rookie is starting to draw real attention: Cash Jones.
Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport pointed to Jones as Atlanta’s UDFA with the best shot to survive training camp and land on the roster. That’s notable on a team that currently has 91 players in the mix, not counting international punter Matthew Hayball, and 19 rookies overall - six draft picks and 13 undrafted free agents.
Jones comes in with a long shot on paper, but he does have a path. Davenport noted that “Cash Jones has a fantastic football name, but he wasn't a huge factor offensively over five seasons at Georgia-just 107 total touches,” wrote Davenport.
“To his credit, though, he made the most of the touches he did get-he's a capable receiver out of the backfield and averaged 4.9 yards per carry. Where Jones really stood out was on special teams, and his extensive experience on both kickoff and punt coverage could carve a path for him into the NFL.”
Atlanta has also experimented with Jones at wide receiver, a sign that the Falcons are willing to see where he fits best since he’s not a traditional running back. After minicamp, head coach Kevin Stefanski said he liked what he had seen.
“This is a very, very smart football player,” said Stefanski. “Obviously, UGA fans know the type of player he is and the type of plays he's made in the course of his career.
I'm so impressed with who he is as a person. The intelligence part of this - you can't just have a guy go from running back to wide receiver if he's not intelligent.
We're going to continue to work him in different spots.”
Jones is set to report with the rest of Atlanta’s rookies in Flowery Branch on Friday, July 24.

The Falcons added another body to a defensive tackle room that needed one when they signed Chris Williams to a one-year deal in March. Williams arrives with a familiar resume for a depth lineman, having bounced through stops with the Colts, Chiefs, Browns and Bears, and the hope in Atlanta is that his experience can translate into something more useful than just emergency insurance.
Chris Williams is also the kind of player who can change the conversation in camp if he finds a fit quickly. Atlanta has already seen LaCale London turn a modest role into a bigger one, and the Falcons would love a similar climb from Williams if he can carve out snaps in a thin rotation, but that path still has to be earned. Falcons May Already Have Their Answer To The QB Problem
The Falcons quarterback situation is still unsettled, with Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa competing for the starting job as Matt Ryan settles into his new role as president of football and works alongside general manager Ian Cunningham and coach Kevin Stefanski to push the franchise back toward the playoffs. Even with that uncertainty hanging over the offense, there is a growing sense that Atlanta may already know where its most dependable production is going to come from.
Bijan Robinson is expected to sit at the center of Stefanskis run-heavy approach, and that alone gives the Falcons a clear offensive anchor while the passing game sorts itself out. The bigger question is how far that role can take him, because the projection around Robinson is not just about volume or efficiency, but about whether Atlantas offense can build enough around him to turn a strong season into something much bigger.
