The Green Bay Packers’ remarkable run at Lambeau Field is over, and the Atlanta Falcons made sure there was no subtlety about it.
Atlanta walked out of Green Bay with a 35-14 win Thursday night, ending the Packers’ 13-year streak of winning their home opener. Green Bay had opened its home schedule with a victory every season from 2013 through 2025, tying the NFL record set by the Miami Dolphins from 1976 through 1988. That run is done now.
The night started with a spark for the Packers. Jordan Love found Christian Watson for a touchdown, and Green Bay grabbed a 7-0 lead. After that, though, Atlanta seized control and never let go.
The Falcons ripped off the next 27 points, powered by big nights from Bijan Robinson and Drake London. Robinson ran for 194 yards and scored twice. London was just as relentless, finishing with nine catches for 194 yards.
Green Bay could not get anything going on the ground, and that was a glaring issue from start to finish. The Packers managed only 17 rushing yards. Atlanta finished with 242.
Love did throw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, but he needed 53 attempts to get there. He completed 28 passes and was intercepted once.
The loss dropped Green Bay to 1-2, and Matt LaFleur didn’t sugarcoat what he saw.
"We've got a couple extra days here, and everybody's got to take a long, hard look at themselves," LaFleur said. "We've got to find solutions and just come back ready to work."
There is still a lot of football left, but this was more than a standard September stumble. The Packers were beaten by 21 points at home, were outrushed by 225 yards, and watched one of the NFL’s longest active home-opening streaks disappear in ugly fashion.
Green Bay heads to Tampa in Week 4, its third road game in the first four weeks of the season.
