Falcons Just Got Linked To A Receiver Trade Fans Will Debate

With salary cap space to spare and a potential gap at wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons may turn to Denver's Marvin Mims Jr. to bolster their offensive lineup.

The Falcons have a little breathing room before training camp opens, and that window gives general manager Ian Cunningham a chance to keep tinkering with the roster. After extensions for Drake London and Kyle Pitts, Atlanta is sitting on roughly $37 million in salary cap space, enough to chase a veteran receiver or get creative on the trade market.

One name that popped up in Bleacher Report’s latest trade exercise for all 32 teams is Denver Broncos wideout Marvin Mims Jr. For Atlanta, Moe Moton framed Mims as a fit worth watching.

"Denver acquired Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins. Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin have a strong rapport with quarterback Bo Nix," wrote Moton.

"The coaching staff could look to further develop second-year wideout Pat Bryant. Mims knows this year could be his last in Denver.

Atlanta can speed up the process and acquire him to address a glaring roster need."

Mims, a former second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, posted a career-best 503 receiving yards in 2024. Last season, though, he didn’t take the next step even with roughly the same target volume. With Waddle now in the picture, his path in Denver looks even murkier.

Atlanta has already tried to patch the receiver room by signing Jahan Dotson to help replace Darnell Mooney. Dotson is expected to open the season as the No. 2 wideout, but his résumé doesn’t exactly scream certainty.

Rookie Zachariah Branch is also in the mix, though his smaller frame could mean a slot role to start his NFL career. The Falcons have the outline of a high-end offense, but the depth behind the top options remains a real question.

That’s what makes Mims such a logical name to monitor. He could be a help to Atlanta in 2026, and with Cunningham already showing a willingness to make deals, it wouldn’t be a shock if the Falcons kept him on the radar.

Falcons Created A Defensive Problem Fans May Regret All Season

Kaden Elliss is gone, and with him goes one of the more important stabilizers Atlanta had on defense. The Falcons are now left trying to sort through a linebacker room that looks thinner and less proven than it did a month ago, which is a problem because Elliss was doing far more than just filling a spot. He helped hold the group together, and his departure leaves a noticeable hole in both leadership and production.

For Atlanta, the concern is less about finding a body and more about finding someone who can actually do the job Elliss was doing. The current options bring different skill sets, but the Falcons are still searching for the kind of presence that can keep the defense organized and competitive over the course of a season. After finishing near the bottom of the league against the run, losing a player like Elliss only adds another layer of uncertainty to a unit that already had plenty. [Read more 🡒]

Tyler Allgeier May Be Stuck In The Same Spot Again

Tyler Allgeiers move to Arizona was supposed to give him a fresh start after leaving Atlanta on a two-year, $12 million deal, but the early picture looks a lot like the one he was trying to escape. The Cardinals have packed their backfield with multiple options, and even before a snap is played, the workload appears anything but clear.

Bleacher Reports Moe Moton went so far as to tab Allgeier as Arizonas biggest bust for 2026, a label rooted less in anything Allgeier has done than in the crowded setup around him. If the Cardinals spend much of the year chasing games with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback, the kind of steady run volume Allgeier needs could be hard to find, leaving him fighting for touches in a room that already feels tight.
