The Green Bay Packers’ 2026 season has started in shaky fashion, and Thursday night made the situation feel even worse. After opening the year 1-2, a record that could easily have been 0-3 if not for their overtime escape against the New York Jets in Week 2, Green Bay took a beating at home in its primetime Week 3 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
But the game wasn’t the only thing drawing attention afterward.
Tight end Tucker Kraft took aim at Packers fans after the loss, responding to boos from the Lambeau Field crowd in a way that is unlikely to win anybody over. Matt Schneidman of The Athletic shared Kraft’s comments, and the message was blunt.
"That's pretty tough," Kraft said. "Like, everyone picture Lambeau Field and not boos.
I don't picture boos. I picture my home stadium.
That's tough. It's pretty disappointing, especially for a home opener.
It's pretty disappointing."
He added, "It's not going to help us win. Like, I don't know what people think that's going to rally us or something like that.
But that's -- we're grown men. We're mentally strong enough, capable enough to get back on the field and play ball.
But it'd probably be much easier with the 70,000 people behind us rather than opposing us."
There’s no mystery about why the crowd reacted the way it did. Green Bay was blown out by an Atlanta team that entered the game 0-2 and looked like one of the league’s weakest clubs. Instead of stabilizing things in the home opener, the Packers turned in a rough performance that left more questions than answers.
The offensive line struggled badly. The run game was even worse.
Mistakes piled up. And Kraft was part of the mess, too, with a few drops that hurt a Packers offense already having trouble moving the ball.
That’s why his postgame comments are landing so poorly. Fans were booing the play on the field, and after a loss like that, calling them out publicly is a tough move. It does little to smooth things over, especially when the frustration in the stands came from what they were watching unfold on the field.
For a team already under pressure in Week 3, the loss itself was bad enough. The response afterward only made the night look messier. If Green Bay doesn’t turn things around quickly, this season could go sideways in a hurry.
