After Bijan Robinson’s 2-yard touchdown with 3:33 left pushed Atlanta to 33-14, the Falcons stayed aggressive. Michael Penix Jr. hit Chris Blair in the end zone on the two-point try, and the lead became 35-14 - not a cosmetic detail, but a mathematical wall for Jordan Love and the Packers.

The decision came after Atlanta had already spent most of the night dragging Green Bay around. The Falcons erased a 7-0 deficit and ripped off 27 straight points, building a game that looked increasingly out of reach as the fourth quarter wore on.
Penix, back in action for the first time since tearing an ACL last November, finished 18 of 25 for 256 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Robinson carried the offense with 29 rushing attempts for 194 yards and both of Atlanta’s rushing touchdowns, finishing just one yard shy of the career high he set against the Rams last December, according to the Reuters recap.
Drake London was just as central to the push, catching nine passes for 194 yards. Atlanta piled up 498 yards and held the ball for more than 37 minutes, while Green Bay managed only 17 rushing yards on nine carries, numbers noted in the Packers’ game recap.
Love still put up production of his own, throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns. That was exactly why Stefanski wanted the lead at 21 instead of 20.
A quarterback like Love can make a two-score deficit feel much smaller if there’s time left and one defensive mistake opens the door. Atlanta had already seen Golden’s 15-yard touchdown trim the margin to 27-14 with 8:18 remaining, and the Falcons answered with an eight-play, 67-yard drive before refusing to give away the extra point.

The Lambeau crowd had already turned restless by then. The Associated Press game story, carried on theScore, noted that Green Bay’s 13-game home-opener winning streak came to an end and that boos followed as the game slipped away.
NFL.com’s takeaways pointed to a Packers team missing Micah Parsons, who was out with a knee injury, and Josh Jacobs, who remains on the commissioner’s exempt list. The offensive line was shorthanded, the ground game never got going, and Xavier Watts’ late interception closed the book.
For Stefanski, the night also marked his first win in Atlanta. AP News reported that the Falcons hired him on Jan. 17 after Cleveland let him go.
He had spent 14 seasons in Minnesota and six years as Browns head coach, winning AP NFL Coach of the Year in 2020 and 2023 and reaching the playoffs in those same seasons. The Falcons brought him in for the kind of offense that leans on wide-zone runs, play-action, and the kind of fourth-quarter decision that says the score isn’t really the score until the math says it is.
