The Miami Dolphins are making waves this offseason, shaking up their offense by parting ways with Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill. The recent blockbuster trade of Jaylen Waddle has left the Dolphins' wide receiver room looking drastically different and has set off a ripple effect in the draft landscape.
With Waddle now a Bronco, the Dolphins snagged the 30th overall pick, leaving the Denver Broncos without picks in the first and third rounds. This move, however, has left Miami with a significant gap at wide receiver.
As ESPN's Field Yates pointed out, this situation puts the Dolphins in prime position to target a wide receiver with their 11th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. This development spells trouble for teams like the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens, and New York Jets, who are also eyeing top-tier receivers.
"The trade of Jaylen Waddle puts WR squarely in play for the Dolphins at pick 11," Yates noted. With their current wide receiver lineup looking thin, Miami is poised to make a splash by selecting one of the draft's elite receivers.
The draft class boasts three standout wide receivers: Ohio State's Carnell Tate, USC's Makai Lemon, and Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson. These names have been frequently linked to the Rams, Ravens, and occasionally the Jets, who pick 16th overall. But with Miami now in the mix, the competition for these top talents has intensified.
The Rams, picking 13th thanks to a trade with the Atlanta Falcons, are also in jeopardy of missing out on one of these premier receivers. The teams selecting before Miami-Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs-could all potentially be in the market for a receiver, adding to the intrigue.
While not all these teams will necessarily go for a wide receiver, it's conceivable that the Dolphins could snag one of the top three options. Additionally, prospects like Omar Cooper Jr. and KC Concepcion might see their draft stock rise due to the increased demand, as teams like the Jets, Ravens, and Rams may feel pressured to secure a receiver earlier than anticipated.
The Dolphins' decision to trade Waddle has certainly shaken up the draft dynamics, creating a challenging scenario for the Jets, Ravens, and Rams as they strategize for the 2026 NFL Draft.
