The Miami Dolphins are making moves at the top of their front office, and they’re not wasting any time reshaping the organization’s leadership. After bringing in Jon-Eric Sullivan as General Manager earlier this month, the Dolphins are now adding another experienced voice to the mix: Kyle Smith is set to join the team as assistant GM.
Smith is no stranger to the personnel game. He spent the last three seasons in the same role with the Atlanta Falcons, helping guide their roster decisions during a transitional period.
But with Atlanta recently cleaning house-moving on from head coach Raheem Morris and GM Terry Fontenot-Smith became a top candidate for other front office roles around the league. Miami didn’t wait long to bring him aboard.
Before his time in Atlanta, Smith built a strong résumé over 11 seasons with Washington, where he climbed the ranks in the scouting and personnel departments. He’s known around league circles as a sharp evaluator with a solid track record in both college scouting and pro personnel-two areas that will be crucial as Miami looks to retool and compete in a tough AFC landscape.
This latest hire comes just days after the Dolphins named Jeff Hafley as their new head coach, signaling a full-scale reset at the top. With Sullivan, Hafley, and now Smith in place, the Dolphins are clearly assembling a new leadership core that blends fresh ideas with front office experience.
The challenge ahead? Turning potential into production.
Miami has talent on the roster, but consistency has been elusive. With a revamped front office and a new voice on the sideline, the Dolphins are betting that this new brain trust can finally steer the franchise toward sustained success.
