The NFL has barely settled into the season, and already the record book is getting a workout. Week 2 delivered three more historic moments, and Week 3 could bring another round of milestones if a few stars keep pushing the pace.
Before looking ahead, Week 2 deserves its own nod. The Buffalo Bills played their first game in the new Highmark Stadium.
Dak Prescott claimed the Dallas Cowboys’ all-time passing touchdowns mark after a four-touchdown performance. And on Monday Night Football, Matthew Stafford moved past Philip Rivers in all-time passing touchdowns with his own four-touchdown day.
Now the focus shifts to the Week 3 chase board, ranked from least likely to most likely.
T.J. Watt is back in the conversation for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ forced fumbles record.
It is funny seeing you back here once again, Mr. Watt.
Back in Week 1, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner needed just one forced fumble to set his franchise mark. Watt has been sitting on two forced fumbles to do the same thing for the Pittsburgh Steelers since the beginning of the 2026 season.
That said, this isn’t about effort. Watt already has 3.5 sacks through two games, but none of them have come on strip sacks. One forced fumble would tie George Lloyd for the franchise record, and two would give Watt the mark outright.
Bijan Robinson is also in striking distance for the Atlanta Falcons. He entered last week needing two receiving touchdowns from a running back’s perspective to break the franchise record, and the quarterback situation made that look like a long shot. But Michael Penix is officially back in the lineup for Atlanta this Thursday.
That changes the outlook for the Falcons offense, and it gives Robinson another real chance to make history. He needs two receiving touchdowns to pass Devonta Freeman for the franchise record, and with a capable quarterback back under center, that Thursday Night Football milestone is very much in play.

Drake Londons Frustration Puts Falcons Quarterback Decision Under A Spotlight
Drake Londons body language told the story during a recent Falcons game, when the receiver was seen yelling and pointing on the sideline as Atlanta struggled to find a rhythm on offense. It has not been the start London or the Falcons wanted, with the third-year pass catcher working through two games alongside backup quarterbacks and producing 6 receptions for 80 yards.
Michael Penix Jr. looms over the conversation because the pairing has already shown real promise when given time together. In 14 games with Penix, London has piled up 91 catches for 1,286 yards and 9 touchdowns, a track record that makes the quarterback decision feel even more important as Atlanta tries to stabilize its passing game and keep one of its top weapons engaged. Falcons Face An Ugly Reality Entering Packers Matchup
The Falcons head into their Week 3 trip to Green Bay already carrying the kind of concerns that can make a road game feel even longer. The Packers bring the cleaner roster and the steadier quarterback situation, while Atlanta is still trying to find reliable play under center and across the board, two issues that have already shaped the early part of the 2026 season.
For Atlanta, the matchup is less about matching the Packers punch for punch and more about avoiding another lopsided afternoon that deepens the pressure around the team. Green Bay is being forecast to handle this one comfortably, which leaves the Falcons with an ugly reality in front of them and a chance to show some progress in a spot where the margin for error looks thin. Falcons Hand Michael Penix Jr. A Huge Early Test Without A Key Defender
Michael Penix Jr. is set for a significant early-season spotlight in Week 3, as the Falcons turn to the young quarterback against the Green Bay Packers. The move comes at a time when Atlanta is also adjusting its defense, with cornerback A.J. Terrell landing on injured reserve and defensive lineman Zach Harrison getting promoted from the practice squad. It is the kind of lineup shuffle that puts even more attention on how quickly the rookie can settle in.
Atlanta is also expected to add cornerback Robert Longerbeam from the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, another sign the secondary is being patched together on the fly. For a team trying to steady itself this early in the season, the timing matters, and the matchup with Green Bay now carries a little extra weight because of it. Elsewhere around the league, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned to full participation in practice after his oblique injury, a reminder of how quickly the quarterback landscape can shift around Penixs first big test.
