Ronald Acua, Jr. Reclaims Top Spot in Braves Batting Order

Ronald Acua, Jr. returns to the top of the Braves' lineup for the 2026 season, aiming to ignite Atlanta's offense with his dynamic presence at lead-off.

The Atlanta Braves have settled a key lineup question for the 2026 season: Ronald Acuña Jr. will reclaim his familiar spot at the top of the order. Braves manager Walt Weiss confirmed that Acuña will be leading off, putting an end to any speculation about his position in the lineup.

Last season saw some surprising lineup decisions, including Acuña batting as low as seventh. However, his return to the leadoff spot was anticipated, given his track record.

Acuña, who made history with the first-ever 40 home run, 70 stolen base season, has started 676 games at the top of the lineup. His next most frequent spot?

Batting third, with 46 starts.

The second spot in the order remains open, with Weiss considering several options. Catcher Drake Baldwin and first baseman Matt Olson are strong candidates due to their success against left-handed pitching. Outfielder/designated hitter Jurickson Profar also offers versatility with his switch-hitting and on-base skills.

As the Braves gear up for their season opener at home against the Kansas City Royals, the focus will be on keeping everyone healthy and ready to ignite the offense from the start.
