Georgia's QB Splash Comes With Powerful Twist

Despite facing early setbacks, Bo Bryan has quickly risen as a standout talent, following his country star father's legacy with a strong commitment to Georgia football.

Bo Bryan, the son of country music star Luke Bryan, is headed to Georgia.

The 3-star 2027 quarterback announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Sunday evening, posting the news on X. His pledge came less than a week after Georgia extended an offer to the Battle Ground Academy standout from Franklin, Tenn.

Bryan checks in at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, and Battle Ground coach Bobby Bentley described him as a pocket passer with a “very good” arm. Bentley also pointed to Bryan’s feel for the position, saying, “He understands spatial awareness in the passing game,” Bentley said. “A team leader in the locker room, the epitome of what a quarterback represents on and off the field.

The recruiting path included several other offers, with Arkansas State, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay and Eastern Kentucky also in the mix. Bentley said LSU , SMU and Virginia “all wanted to have a spot for him, but this deal with Georgia is a little bit different because it’s one of those spots where he always wanted to go there.”

Luke Bryan, who is a big Georgia fan, has been around the process throughout. He co-headlined a concert last spring in Sanford Stadium with Jason Aldean and serves as a judge on ABC's "American Idol," but Bentley said his presence at games, 7-on-7 events and scrimmages has been steady and supportive.

“He’s not a helicopter dad,” Bentley said. “He’s not questioning me, he’s not questioning our staff.

He’s not one of those guys that carries his weight into a meeting. Everybody knows who his Dad is, but his Dad has a been good asset to our staff and to our culture, honestly.

He’s helped us out a lot just by buying into the positivity of what we’re trying to build here.”

Bryan has already spent time around the program. He attended Georgia’s camp this past summer, and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has also visited the school. Bentley said the fit makes sense for both sides.

“He fits Bobo and how he wants to be coached,” Bentley said. “I think it’s been a good match. They’ve done a good job recruiting him and the kids at our school.”

That relationship matters, especially with Bentley noting his own history with Bobo after serving as an offensive assistant under him at South Carolina in 2020. He said the Bulldogs’ system lines up with Bryan’s background in a spread offense.

“It’s a lot of stuff that Bobo does,” said Bentley, who was an offensive assistant under Bobo at South Carolina in 2020. “Almost every concept that they do.”

On the field, Bryan has put up big numbers in limited time. He completed 114-of-155 passes for 2,100 yards with 30 touchdowns in 7 games, though his season was interrupted by a broken collarbone suffered in a game on Oct.

  1. He is a first-year starter.

Georgia’s quarterback group in the 2027 class now includes Bryan and four-star Colton Nussmeier of Archbishop Rummel in Metairie, La., making Bryan the second quarterback commitment for the Bulldogs in that cycle. Earlier this month, Georgia also added four-star 2028 offensive offensive lineman Koehn Dial.

Braves May Be Eyeing Another Cheap Rotation Fix

As the Braves keep looking for affordable pitching answers, the conversation is already drifting toward the 2027 rotation market and which names might make sense as buy-low bets. The appeal is familiar: find a starter with some track record, enough talent to dream on, and enough recent baggage to keep the price down, much like Martn Prez ended up being as a minor league signing last season.

Among the options being kicked around are Nestor Cortes, Jordan Montgomery and Zack Littell, all of whom fit the general reclamation-project profile the Braves have been willing to explore. Each comes with his own mix of uneven results and health concerns, and one of them has had a particularly rough recent stretch that could push his value even lower if Atlanta decides to keep shopping in that aisle. Braves Fans Will Instantly Recognize This World Series Parallel

Cooper Pratt gave Milwaukee a jolt with a go-ahead homer in the 12th inning of a World Series game, the kind of swing that can hang in the air long after the crowd has settled back into its seats. For Braves fans, the scene probably felt familiar in the worst possible way, because it brought back memories of a big late shot in the Fall Classic that briefly seemed like it might tilt the whole series.

The comparison is hard to miss: a dramatic breakthrough, a dugout that starts to believe, and then a comeback from the other side that wipes away the moment before the night is over. Milwaukee still has room to write its own ending, but the parallel is a reminder of how quickly a World Series game can turn, and why Atlanta followers know better than to trust a lead until the final out is in the books. Braves Got An Early Read On Owen Murphys Toughest MLB Question

Owen Murphys first look at the majors gave the Braves a useful snapshot of where one of their better pitching prospects stands after a long recovery from Tommy John surgery. The 2022 first-round pick, taken 16th overall, reached Atlanta in 2026 after earning Triple-A All-Star honors and bringing a reputation for good control, but the transition to big-league hitters immediately tested the parts of his game that were always going to matter most.

Murphy was able to show flashes of the starter the Braves still hope he can become, yet his brief run also underscored the hard-contact issue that can swallow promising pitchers in their first turn through a major league lineup. For Atlanta, the early read was encouraging in some areas and sobering in others, which is usually how the first answer arrives to a young arms biggest question. [Read more 🡒]
