Georgia Just Crashed The SEC Party

Despite a weekend of decisive victories and strategic play, the latest college football rankings reveal unexpected shifts and stir up debate within the SEC standings.

Week 9 in the SEC didn’t bring chaos. It brought control.

Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas all took care of business Saturday, Oct. 31, and the latest rankings reflected it. No.

3 Georgia rolled past No. 20 Florida 27-8 in the rivalry game formerly known as the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party,” No.

12 Ole Miss turned a tight halftime game into a runaway against Auburn, and No. 11 Texas stacked back-to-back wins for the first time since the opening month.

Georgia’s win in Atlanta came with a familiar formula: defense, balance and enough offense to stay comfortably ahead. Gunner Stockton threw for just over 100 yards, while the Bulldogs piled up 217 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Ole Miss had to work a little longer to separate from Auburn. Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels led by only five at halftime, then slammed the door with four second-half touchdowns on the way to a 45-15 finish. Chambliss accounted for three total touchdowns in the win.

Texas looked sharp in its matchup with a Mississippi State team playing its first game without Kamario Taylor. Arch Manning completed 16 of 20 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns as the Longhorns kept their momentum going.

South Carolina also made noise on the road, using a dominant second quarter to beat Oklahoma. That result sparked chants of “Fire Arbuckle” in the stands and raised more questions about the man leading the program.

A handful of SEC teams were idle in Week 9 - Kentucky, Alabama, LSU and Tennessee all had byes, along with Vanderbilt - but the league still made a strong showing in both major polls.

In the US LBM Coaches Poll, Miami stayed No. 1, followed by Georgia at No. 2.

Indiana, Utah, UCLA and Notre Dame rounded out the top six. Kentucky checked in at No. 7, with BYU at No. 8 and Alabama at No.

  1. Texas landed at No.

11, Ole Miss at No. 12, LSU at No. 15 and Tennessee at No.

  1. Missouri was No. 19, while Florida was unranked in this poll.

The AP Top 25 told a similar story at the top, with Miami first and Georgia second. Utah moved to No.

3, Notre Dame was No. 4, and UCLA and Indiana followed. Kentucky came in at No.

8, Alabama at No. 9, Texas at No. 10 and Ohio State at No.

Braves Add A Familiar Depth Option As Bench Picture Stays Unsettled

The Braves have added a familiar utility option to the organizational mix, signing infielder Vidal Brujn to a minor league contract and sending him to Triple-A Gwinnett. Brujn brings plenty of big league experience for a depth move, having appeared in 271 major league games since 2021 across six teams, and he gives Atlanta another versatile infield name to keep in the pipeline.

For a bench picture that still looks unsettled, the move makes sense as the Braves keep sorting through their infield depth and possible spring options. Brujn could also get a look in Spring Training as a non-roster player, which would give the club a better read on where he fits while the rest of the roster picture continues to take shape. Braves Prospect Isaiah Drake Is Giving Fans Another Reason To Watch

Isaiah Drake keeps turning heads in the Arizona Fall League, and his latest showing gave Braves fans another reason to keep an eye on Glendale. In a back-and-forth game against Peoria, Drake was a constant presence at the plate while Tate Southisene and Owen Carey also got into the action for the Desert Dogs, with Tyler LaPorte and Logan Samuels handling work on the mound.

The Desert Dogs came out on top 9-8, and the box score had plenty of Braves-related notes to sort through. LaPorte and Samuels each delivered scoreless innings, giving the club some needed stability in a game that stayed tight throughout, while Drakes day stood out as one of the more encouraging individual performances on the roster. Braves Defense Just Earned A National Stamp Of Approval

Defense has been one of the quieter strengths around the Braves, and now it has a national seal of approval. Matt Olson and Mauricio Dubn were both honored with Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for their work in the 2026 season, giving Atlanta a pair of recognized defenders who made their value felt in different ways across the field.

Olson added another Gold Glove at first base, while Dubn was rewarded for his versatility as a utility player, a reminder that the Braves defensive profile has not rested on one spot or one style. The recognition also puts Atlanta back in a familiar place among the leagues best gloves, with the club now waiting to see whether this kind of all-around excellence can keep stacking up in the seasons ahead.
