Texas A&M’s 50-0 rout of Missouri State on Saturday night in College Station gave Mike Elko and company a clean start as they chase a return to the Playoff this fall. But if the football on the field was lopsided, the action in the stands gave Texas A&M Police plenty to document.
The department’s social media account was in full swing throughout the night, turning Kyle Field misbehavior into a running highlight reel. From public intoxication arrests to ejections, the tweets painted a picture of a busy night for police inside the stadium.
One of the most memorable came from Section 233, where police responded to a report of an intoxicated subject who was given several chances to call a friend. The subject said he had "nothing to say." He was arrested with a BAC of .216.
Another arrest came in Section 117, where police said an intoxicated subject was belligerent and wanted to fight the female behind him. When officers questioned him, he told them to take him to jail. They did.
In Section 131, a subject was ejected after making fun of police while holding a Long Drink, which the account noted was not sold in the stadium.
The oddness didn’t stop there. Police also reported a public intoxication case in the MSC 2nd floor bathroom, where a subject was sick and emotional before being released to a sober cousin.
And even the stadium staff got pulled into the mix. A contract employee became agitated after a supervisor told him to tuck in his shirt. Police were called, the subject became belligerent with officers, and he was ejected.
Texas A&M returns to action next Saturday against Arizona State in College Station, with the police account seemingly ready for another eventful night.
