Braves Unveil Opening Day Plans Fans Will Want To See

As the Atlanta Braves gear up for their 60th season in Atlanta, fans can look forward to exciting new experiences both on and off the field.

The Atlanta Braves kicked off the new MLB season with their annual media day, celebrating a milestone 60th season in Atlanta. As baseball's longest continuing franchise, the Braves are set to honor this legacy with a fresh start and plenty of anticipation.

First-year manager Walt Weiss is navigating familiar challenges. On the positive side, key players like third baseman Austin Riley are returning healthy after playing 102 games last year. However, the pitching staff faces hurdles, with Spencer Strider starting the season on the injured list due to an oblique strain.

The "what-ifs" loom large: Can Michael Harris II start strong this year? Will the Braves kick off the season with a winning streak, unlike last year's rocky start? The durability of the pitching staff remains a crucial factor, especially with their ace missing time last season.

Chris Sale, boasting 145 career wins and a 2024 Cy Young Award, has been named the opening day starter. Sale's absence last year due to a rib injury was felt deeply, and his return is eagerly anticipated.

The Braves will open with back-to-back three-game home series against the Kansas City Royals and the Sacramento A’s. At Truist Park, new features include striking red and blue floodlights, enhancing the game-day experience.

Braves President & CEO Derek Schiller emphasized the team's perennial goal: reaching the World Series. “We think we’re breaking camp with a fantastic team. We’re excited about getting going, because at the end of the day, that’s what the Atlanta Braves are all about,” Schiller stated.

The team’s broadcast arm, Braves Vision, will debut on Opening Day with a pregame show, aiming to strengthen connections with fans through media.

Truist Park isn't just about baseball. This season, it will host summer concerts and three games featuring the Savannah Bananas.

A new addition, the South End Trading Co., will cater to baseball card enthusiasts, offering card ripping nights and autograph signings. Decorated with images of legends like Hank Aaron, it promises unique memorabilia for fans.

Lisa Williams, vice president of retail, confirmed the card shop's role in drawing card collectors to the park. “That’s part of the move over to this side of the ballpark,” she explained.

With these exciting developments, the Braves are ready to make their mark in this anniversary season.
