Braves Prospect Patrick Clohisy Is Forcing An Atlanta Decision

With the Braves eyeing postseason success, it's time for them to take a leap of faith and elevate rising star Patrick Clohisy from their minor league ranks to the major leagues.

The Braves have been stockpiling young talent for a while now, and one of the names forcing its way into the conversation is Patrick Clohisy. Drafted in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of St. Louis University, the outfielder has climbed quickly and turned himself into one of the most intriguing players in Atlanta’s system.

What makes Clohisy stand out is the kind of profile that plays in almost any role. He’s strong defensively in the outfield, he runs like a burner, and that combination gives him real value as a fourth outfielder and pinch runner.

That matters on a roster that could use more versatility. It also gives Atlanta a left-handed bat to work with off the bench.

The bat has been loud enough to demand attention, too. Since getting to Triple-A Gwinnett, Clohisy has put together a .387/.461/.559 line with eight doubles, three homers, 16 RBI, 16 walks, 28 strikeouts and a 1.020 OPS. He is not going to post those numbers in the majors, but the season has clearly raised his ceiling.

His speed has been a major part of the package. Clohisy has 19 stolen bases at Triple-A and 56 overall this season, which would be a real lift for a Braves team that has not gotten much production in that area.

Gwinnett made the case for how strong his stretch has been in July. Since his debut on 7/11, he led the Stripers in nearly every major category that month, including 23 hits, 11 extra-base hits, 13 runs, 10 stolen bases, a .451 batting average and a 1.313 OPS.

That kind of production stands out for a Braves team that has only 62 stolen bases this season, good for 25th in the league, even after adding Antoan Richardson to the coaching staff in the offseason. The expectation was that Atlanta would be more aggressive on the bases. It just hasn’t happened.

Clohisy could help change that fast. Whether he ends up as a bench piece or pushes for a larger role, he brings a different element to the roster. And with the Braves looking for a jolt, he looks like the kind of player who could supply it.

Braves Make A Surprising Bullpen Cut During Brutal Road Stretch

A difficult road trip has already forced the Braves to keep reworking their pitching staff, and the latest move came in the bullpen. Atlanta parted ways with veteran reliever Tyler Kinley after a rough start to the season, a notable decision for a club that has leaned on experienced arms while trying to steady the staff through the early grind.

Kinley had given the Braves useful innings after arriving last year, but this season never matched that initial run of success. With the bullpen and rotation both still in flux, the move leaves Atlanta continuing to search for the right mix of arms as the road stretch rolls on. [Read more 🡒]

Braves First Round Pick Is Already Giving Fans A Reason To Watch

The first glimpse of Carter Beck in the Braves system has been enough to turn heads, and Atlanta wasted little time moving the first-round outfielder up from Single-A Augusta to High-A Rome. Beck has been impressive through his first 12 minor league games, showing the kind of early impact that can make a top pick stand out quickly in a crowded farm system.

For Braves fans, the appeal is obvious: Beck is already producing the way a promising prospect is supposed to, piling up hits, driving in runs and adding stolen bases along the way. A fast start does not guarantee anything in player development, but it does give Atlanta another young name worth tracking closely as he faces a tougher level and tries to keep the momentum going.
