Braves Prospect Isaiah Drake Is Giving Fans Another Reason To Watch

Braves prospect Isaiah Drake delivered an impressive Arizona Fall League performance that contributed to the Glendale Desert Dogs' narrow victory.

Isaiah Drake made sure Halloween stood out for the Braves’ Arizona Fall League group.

The Atlanta prospect put together the loudest performance of the day in Glendale’s 9-8 win over Peoria, going 3-for-3 with his first AFL home run, a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Drake reached base in all four plate appearances and kept his strong week rolling with a game that jumped off the page and the Statcast readout.

His homer traveled 403 feet and left the bat at 102.4 MPH.

Drake was one of five Braves prospects to appear in the game, and four of them helped Glendale get past Peoria in a one-run battle.

Tate Southisene handled designated hitter duties and finished 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and an .851 OPS. The line only tells part of the story, though. He had three of his four at-bats register exit velocities of 93+ MPH, with the other ending in a soft groundout.

Owen Carey started in right field and went 0-for-4. His day was quieter than the others, with only one at-bat producing an exit velocity above 90 MPH.

On the mound, Tyler LaPorte gave Glendale 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and no walks while striking out one. Logan Samuels followed with an inning of relief, giving up one hit, striking out one, and earning the win for the second time in AFL play.

The full Braves line in the game also included the offensive production from Drake and Southisene, plus the clean work from LaPorte and Samuels, as Glendale held off Peoria 9-8.

Braves Add A Familiar Depth Option As Bench Picture Stays Unsettled

The Braves have added a familiar utility option to the organizational mix, signing infielder Vidal Brujn to a minor league contract and sending him to Triple-A Gwinnett. Brujn brings plenty of big league experience for a depth move, having appeared in 271 major league games since 2021 across six teams, and he gives Atlanta another versatile infield name to keep in the pipeline.

For a bench picture that still looks unsettled, the move makes sense as the Braves keep sorting through their infield depth and possible spring options. Brujn could also get a look in Spring Training as a non-roster player, which would give the club a better read on where he fits while the rest of the roster picture continues to take shape. Braves Defense Just Earned A National Stamp Of Approval

Defense has been one of the quieter strengths around the Braves, and now it has a national seal of approval. Matt Olson and Mauricio Dubn were both honored with Rawlings Gold Glove Awards for their work in the 2026 season, giving Atlanta a pair of recognized defenders who made their value felt in different ways across the field.

Olson added another Gold Glove at first base, while Dubn was rewarded for his versatility as a utility player, a reminder that the Braves defensive profile has not rested on one spot or one style. The recognition also puts Atlanta back in a familiar place among the leagues best gloves, with the club now waiting to see whether this kind of all-around excellence can keep stacking up in the seasons ahead. Braves Add Intrigue To A Shortstop Battle They Still Havent Solved

The Braves offseason already had a familiar shape, with the club locking in Ronald Acua Jr. and Ozzie Albies for 2027 and then turning back to the middle of the diamond, where the shortstop picture remains unsettled. Mauricio Dubn and Ha-Seong Kim are both free agents, and Jim Jarvis currently stands as the top in-house option, which leaves Atlanta with a clear need even as the roster around that spot continues to take shape.

Into that mix comes Vidal Brujn, a useful depth addition who can move around the field and give the Braves another name to consider as they sort out the position. It is not the kind of move that answers the shortstop question on its own, but it does add another layer to a competition that already looked open and now feels even more crowded. [Read more 🡒]
