Friday night brings a rare first meeting in Springdale, and it comes with plenty of weight attached. Undefeated Bentonville, ranked No. 1 in the latest High School On SI Arkansas high school poll, is on the road against undefeated Shiloh Christian, which checks in at No. 5.
The setting is Champions Stadium, and the stakes fit the stage. It’s a 7A-West matchup, but for Shiloh Christian, the game also offers a clear measuring stick against a Bentonville team sitting at the top of the state rankings. The Saints won the 6A state title last season, and now they get a chance to see where they stand against one of Arkansas’ highest-classification heavyweights.
Bentonville comes in at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in league play after surviving a trip to Hays, Kan., two weeks ago and then holding off Springdale Har-Ber last week, 24-16. That win over Har-Ber took a late push, with the Tigers scoring a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull it out. Bentonville finished with 362 yards of total offense, with quarterback Evan Canode throwing for 119 yards and two touchdowns and Nathan Clouston adding 122 rushing yards on 24 carries.
Shiloh Christian has its own statement win already on the resume. Several weeks ago, the Saints went to Tulsa and snapped Oklahoma power Lincoln Christian’s 44-game winning streak. Then in their 7A-West opener last week, they rolled at Rogers, 47-17, while piling up nearly 500 yards of offense.
Cole Creighton has been at the center of that surge for Shiloh Christian. The quarterback has thrown for nearly 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns this season, including 261 yards and two scores in last week’s victory.

One name will be missing from the mix, though, as Furman transfer Cooper Bowser will sit out because of a hand injury. For a fan base eager to size up the new pieces in Caliparis first Arkansas team, the event still offers a first real glimpse of the group in front of the home crowd, just without one of the additions expected to be part of the story once the games start counting. Arkansas Faces A Defining SEC Test With Real Doubts Still Lurking
Arkansas heads into Week 4 with a chance to turn a modest step forward into something more meaningful when it meets Texas A&M in an SEC matchup that already feels like an early season hinge point. Both teams are 2-2 overall and still looking for their first conference win, which gives this one a little extra weight beyond the usual September calibration. The Razorbacks come in off a win over Tulsa and will be trying to show that progress can carry into a tougher setting.
Texas A&M is trying to steady itself after back-to-back SEC losses, and doing so at home only sharpens the stakes for Arkansas. For the Razorbacks, this is the kind of game that can clarify whether the recent uptick is real or just a brief pause in the uncertainty. Win here, and the conversation around the season changes quickly. Lose, and the doubts that have been lingering around the program get louder in a hurry. [Read more 🡒]
