Arkansas Still Has A Real Shot With This 4-Star QB

Amidst a challenging season for the Razorbacks, highly-touted quarterback Nash Henry remains optimistic about his potential role in Arkansas' evolving offense under Coach Silverfield.

Arkansas’ season has not been smooth under first-year coach Ryan Silverfield, but the Razorbacks still left an impression on 2028 quarterback Nash Henry.

The 4-star prospect from Norman, Okla., was in Fayetteville for Arkansas’ 34-10 loss to Missouri, and the performance on the field didn’t shake his interest in the program. Henry said he came away encouraged by the way the Razorbacks kept competing even as the game slipped away in the second half.

“Obviously, the game didn't turn out the way anyone wanted, but I thought the guys showed a lot of fight and continued to battle throughout the game,” Henry said. “I was especially impressed with KJ Jackson's toughness he showed at quarterback. They were dealing with some tough circumstances with guys being out, but that's part of football, and I thought the team kept competing.”

Henry, listed at 6-foot-.3.5 and 220 pounds, already has a growing offer sheet that includes TCU, Baylor, Arkansas, UConn, and several others. He has also put together a strong junior season at Norman, where he has helped his team to a 6-3 record in Oklahoma's 6A-Conference while completing 137-of-223 passes for 2,123 yards, 30 total touchdowns and five interceptions.

According to 247Sports, Henry is ranked No. 375 overall in the 2028 class, No. 25 among quarterbacks and No. 6 among Oklahoma athletes.

The late kickoff gave him more than just a look at the game. Because Arkansas played at night, Henry stayed overnight and got extra time with Silverfield and the staff on Sunday morning.

“Since it was a late game, we stayed overnight and had a chance to spend some really good time with Coach Silverfield and the rest of the staff on Sunday morning,” Henry said. “That was probably one of the best parts of the visit for me. Every time I'm around those guys, I feel like we're continuing to build stronger relationships.”

Arkansas’ night included four turnovers and a string of second-half penalties, but Henry said he can see what Silverfield is trying to build. Even with the results not matching the plan yet, he believes the program is moving in the right direction.

“I really believe in Coach Silverfield, his vision for the program, and the staff he's putting together,” Henry said. “I know the results haven't been what they wanted so far, but I believe they're going to get things turned around.

“I really like what they're building offensively, and I can definitely see myself fitting into this system and having success as a quarterback. I'm excited about the direction of the program and continuing to build those relationships.”

Arkansas Is About To Learn If Caliparis Defense Is Really Ready

John Calipari has spent the opening stretch of the season leaning into what he believes can become Arkansas identity: length, activity and a defense that can turn possessions into problems for the other team. Through three games, the Razorbacks have already forced 49 turnovers, a number that points to a group willing to pressure the ball and make opponents work for every clean look.

Virginia should provide a sturdier test for that approach. The Cavaliers had their own turnover issues in a recent game against Drexel, finishing with 14 giveaways, including half of them from star point guard Chance Mallory, and both teams are expected to bring plenty of physicality and defensive pressure into the matchup. For Arkansas, it is the kind of game that can show whether Caliparis defense is just active early or ready to hold up when the competition tightens. [Read more 🡒]

Arkansas Has A Real Opening Against Auburn After One Troubling Trend

Auburn arrives with a ground game that has been the engine of its offense, and that is the first thing Arkansas has to solve if it wants to turn this matchup into something more than a fight on paper. The Razorbacks have also seen a strange twist in this series, with the road team winning the last four meetings, a wrinkle that adds a little extra intrigue to a game that already feels like it could swing on which side controls the line of scrimmage.

For Arkansas, the bigger concern is its own offense, which has been inconsistent enough this season to leave little margin for error. Ryan Silverfield has handled Auburn coach Alex Golesh well so far, but head-to-head history only matters if the Razorbacks can clean up their execution and give themselves a chance to cash in on a defense that has been vulnerable lately. Jeremiah Wilkinson Just Gave Arkansas Fans A Reason To Dream

Jeremiah Wilkinsons first night in an Arkansas uniform gave the Razorbacks exactly the kind of early jolt they were hoping for. After stops at Georgia and Cal, the transfer guard arrived in Fayetteville with plenty to prove, and he answered with 23 points in his debut while also making his presence felt on the defensive end. For a team still taking shape under John Calipari, that kind of immediate impact is the sort of thing that can change the mood around a roster fast.

Calipari was especially struck by Wilkinsons defensive upside, going so far as to suggest he could wind up among the nations best at creating steals. The next test will be a stiffer one, though, with Virginia on deck and a chance to see whether Wilkinsons debut was a preview of something bigger or just an encouraging opening act. For Arkansas, the appeal is obvious: if he can bring scoring and disruption consistently, the Razorbacks may have found a difference-maker in a hurry. [Read more 🡒]
