Arkansas Razorbacks Stun Fans With Late Roster Addition

Arkansas Razorbacks bolster their roster with the addition of walk-on Breylen Gilbert, enhancing their tight end depth for the 2026 season.

Arkansas has bolstered its roster with the addition of Breylen Gilbert, a tight end from Georgia State. Standing at 6-4 and weighing 235 pounds, Gilbert hails from Fairburn, Georgia. He joins the Razorbacks as a walk-on, bringing with him three years of eligibility in Fayetteville.

While Gilbert didn't record any stats in the 2025 season, he's the third transfer to join Arkansas' tight end lineup, alongside Ty Lockwood from Boston College and Matt Adcock from Memphis. This move is part of a larger strategy, as the Razorbacks have signed over 40 transfers, including several from junior colleges and walk-ons.

The current tight end setup shows a need for depth, and if Lockwood hits his stride, he and returning starter Jaden Platt could form a formidable duo. Coach Silverfield, since his December takeover, has been busy reshaping the team, adding 22 new players from high school and junior college for the Class of 2026.

Notable high school recruits include quarterback Hank Hendrix, running back TJ Hodges, and wide receivers Jude Hall, Dequane Prevo, and Blair Irvin IV. The offensive line sees new faces like Cary Clayton and Ben Mubenga, while the defense welcomes players like Colton Yarbrough and Anthony Kennedy Jr.

From the junior college ranks, defensive tackle Antonio Sandel-Bascomb and cornerback DJ Hairston are key additions. Gilbert, despite not seeing game action at Georgia State, brings academic accolades, including spots on the Dean’s List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

As the Razorbacks continue to build, Gilbert's addition reflects a commitment to strengthening the roster with promising talent.
